Weight Loss: 80+ pounds to lose!!

Hi, I'm new to the site and I have tried unsuccessfully to lose weight and keep it off. I've come to the conclusion that I need lots and lots of support and motivation to actually be successful and make this life style change stick! I need buddies to help me through my wt. loss journey! If you are out there and in the same boat give me a shout out and we can work together and help each other be more successful!!!!!

That's awesome @SunsetRunner I just hit and passed that 10,000 goal too. It actually made me feel motivated. Tonight I hope to do it again. I have Zumba at 7:35! Have a great day!

I hit 13,156 steps yesterday and it was HARD to do that!  I just kept busy all day, took the dog for a long walk and hit the treadmill for an hour.  I'm going to try for 10K on weekends and 4K-8K during the week but know with my work schedule I can't hit 10K Mon-Thurs and most Fridays I can try since it is a lighter work day.  Its fitting it in that is hard for me, that and the after dinner munchies are really hard to say no to when you have a husband who can eat anything and stay the same weight he has been for 18 years.  Hope everyone's week is going well! stay motivated, keep moving!

Hi there!  I am in the same boat as you...about 85 lbs to lose.  I just bought the Fitbit Flex last Wednesday and am figuring out all it has to offer.  I am looking for some encouraging "friends" on here as well.  The more the merrier.  I am a married mother of 2 in my early 30's.  I've been overweight nearly all of my life.  My highest weight was 293 lbs about 5 years ago.  I started Weight Watchers and lost a good bit (40 lbs), but I just got really tired of trying to figure out point values on everything.  It was very frustrating to say the least.  I lost another 20ish lbs on my own just by being more active (jogging/walking) and focusing on good nutrition and using My Fitness Pal, but unfortunately I put back on 15 lbs over the holidays.  I have been at a stand still for the past year and really seriously ready to get the rest of this weight off.  Currently weighing in at 251 lbs.  Being this heavy is certainly making jogging harder and considering I have a half-marathon coming up soon I need to get some lbs off!  It's great that I found this forum 🙂

Hi Everyone,

I'm back to my computer.  I had a great first week with my fitbit.  I was right on target with my calories but need to kick it up a notch on the activity.  I gave myself a pass since recovering from a slight injury but I am well enough to rev it up a little.

Hope you are all doing well!!!

Hi Alecia,

I am in the same boat as you are. I am trying to lose about 70 lbs and have done the yo yoing thing in the past. Due to numerous injuries, I had to give up running, which I loved to do, but found it was too hard on the body. I also need a ton of encouragement, so let me know and I will work with you to become successful!!!

Hey everyone, I am also going down the same path. Need to lose 100+ pounds and am looking for other people to friend! This looks lik a great group starting up so I would love to add everyone's names. I have a slight challenge on getting lots of extra activity in. I had a total left knee replacement about 10 weeks ago. It went very well and I am back to work full time this week. I can't walk perfect yet and it still swells bu I am making progress. I am going to the gym now twice a week in place of physical therapy with the blessing from my doctor. Right no the days in between the gym I dont do a ton of activity yet but that will improve. I also link my fitbit one with Myfitnesspal. I am lookijng forward to getting to know people!

hi Sadybug13

welcome to the group. 🙂 I had ACL reconstruction in 1998 so I can empathize with you.  You are amazing to be 10 weeks in and trying to exercise already. if I was you I'd try to more upper body workouts because you can redamage your knee. don't push yourself too hard.

feel free to add me

Welcome to the group @Sadybug13 we all can help each other through this journey.   Its really helpful to me to have friends on this site who are active and motivating. I noticed that Im really excited when I get notifications that someone wants to be a friend or responded to a post, etc.  Helps keep my mine off of things that I dont need to be thinking about like over snacking!! ; )  Hope you had a great day!

I'm wondering how you manage eating right so you keep up energy and don't eat what is in front of you?  My appitite has increased and I'm doing good at keeping calories below what I burn but man I don't have enough energy to do 10K steps a day and it's frustrating me.

It is hard to eat healthy and it be enough! My goal is 1600 cal. Today at work we had a pot luck, lots of food!! I bought my lunch today and went on a 30 min walk during the pot luck. I try and pack healthy snacks/ fruits so that I won't hit the vending machines and I make sure to pack a Chocolatey snack to curb that chocolate craving. My calories ended up being less than my goal today. I kept trying to figure out how that happened and I wasn't even starving. Some days are easier than others!!

Hi Lee, there are a few things for strength the therapist said I should do. Plus the recumbant bike to keep the rang of motion. But I do focus more on upper body, abs and back for now until I get stronger. I still have to focus hard just to walk most days :). Thanks for the advice!

So how is everyone doing? I'm hanging in there! Walked on my lunch break again. It's beautiful outside today. Is everyone meeting their step goals? I definitely find myself trying to do a little more to get my 10,000+ steps.

I was very unmotivated yesterday and did nothing. only got 1700steps on my FITBIT. Today I'm still feeling like **ahem** but knew I'd feel worse if i missed a workout 2 days in a row. feeling much better now that I did my workout (knew I would) but didn't reach my VAM goal. as a warmup i did the stairs 5x's and then again 5x's as a cool down so i at least got that goal accomplished

@SunsetRunner

Set your calorie goals at a reasonable number. I use MFP and have it set to lose 1 pound per week which gives me 1660 calories per day. I usually plan my meals a day in advance and it is surprising how I can eat all day and stay under my goal. lately I've been snacking in the evenings 😞 but I will get back on track.  If you know what calories you ae definitely gonna eat log them ahead of time so you know what you have to work with.
