Weight Loss: 80+ pounds to lose!!

Hi, I'm new to the site and I have tried unsuccessfully to lose weight and keep it off. I've come to the conclusion that I need lots and lots of support and motivation to actually be successful and make this life style change stick! I need buddies to help me through my wt. loss journey! If you are out there and in the same boat give me a shout out and we can work together and help each other be more successful!!!!!

Congratulations on setting these great goals!  I am a firm believer in goal setting.  I think you have the right idea about just taking it one step at a time.  Too much, too soon can be a set up for disaster.  I hope you enjoy your fitbit and find it to be a motivational tool in your journey to health.  I've had mine for a couple weeks and really love it.

That is awesome!  Congratulations 🙂 Doesn't it feel so good to be able to step on that scale and see the number reflect all the hard work you put in?!

Hey ya'll.  Just checking in.  I've been battling a nasty virus since last weekend and finally starting to feel better with antibiotics and rest.  My steps have been very low, but my nutrition is pretty good.  I know if I put good stuff in, I'll get good stuff out and my body really needs that right now.  I'm hoping I can start walking maybe tomorrow on the treadmill here at home without having a coughing fit.  I'm craving activity!  I lost a few pounds last week!  Very happy about that.  My big goal is to lose about 80 lbs in total, but I made a smaller goal of losing 51 lbs to get out of the 200's.  That's my focus right now, well that and more activity which now that Spring is here it should be more do-able.  I hope you all have a great day.  Ounces and lbs sure do add up so keep up all the hard work!

Happy to hear that you are feeling better!  My whole body is in pain, had to soak my feet tonight from all the extra activity I'm trying to get in, but it well be worth it.  Trying to get stronger and healthier!!  Spring is motivating and I did get outside to do a walk today.  Hope you can get back into your groove this week coming!!

Hi All,

Just checking in.  I'm being super consistent with using my phone app and logging my food but I have been purposely limiting my computer use since I can easily get too tempted to waste time sittin on my butt snooping on facebook or playing a dumb game.  Wondering if I should allow myself a few extra minutes to read and respond on this thread?  It's too much of a pain to do that on my phone.  I am wondering if I feel more in contact with my buddies it will give me a stronger sense of motivation?  I'm thinking if I plan my computer time for evening I would avoid falling into a computer induced time warp of inactivity.  Any ideas/thoughts?

PS:  Alecia: You are cranking out those steps!!!  Great Job!!!Smiley Very HappySmiley Very Happy

Thanks,

Hi!  My kids gave me the fitbit one for my birthday and I'm seeing a nutritionist.  It's a tough battle for me but I'm willing to stick to the program and get healthy!  I used to run and ski and go horseback riding but have  gained a lot of weight that I'm now anxious to lose.  My goal is 80 lbs by January and run a 5K with my daughter next spring.  I welcome any support.

Hi Alecia and FooFoo -- I am a 71year old woman who needs to lose another 50 - 55 lbs. At one point I was down to only needing 35 lbs more, but than gained 15 lbs back.  I would love to both give and get support.  Let's Go Girls!

Hey Where is everyone???? How are you all doing? How was your day? Were you motivated today did you stay on track??? Let me know I want to know!!!  Smiley Very Happy  So today was ok, I ate pretty well and stayed within my calories for the day.  I did a 45 min spin class and took a 30 min walk after dinner.   Earlier today though, I found myself thinking and harping on the fact that I lost 40 pounds about 1-2 years ago and I gained it right back!!! I couldn't get it out of my mind.  Coulda, Shoulda, Woulda kind of thinking!!!Smiley Frustrated  I hate when I do that.  I got it under control and I'm trying to be more positive!!  So what's going on with you guys??

@Selena I try and do a variety of different things so I don't get bored and give up again this time around.  I do Zumba, a wt. class, spin, elliptical,  and walking so far.  Still working on loosing but trying not to focus to far out right now, taking it one day at a time.

Hi Everyone! I just started using fitbit over the weekend and am really pleased with it. My fiancee got one too, so its been great to track our calories in and out. I was reading through some of the threads and this group is very motivational! I definetly could use some online friends to keep me motivated and encouraged. I have been working on losing weight on my own for 8 months and have lost 40 pounds but I have a whopping 80 pounds to go. Any ideas or suggestions on diet and exercise would be so helpful.

Thanks Smiley Happy

I was just too exhausted to walk today. I ended up going back to bed when I got done dropping my granddaughter off at school because I just felt so exhausted. Plus my stomach was upset and I didn't want to be walking too far away from a bathroom. So, didn't do too well. And I went over my calories. I am looking forward to getting myself back on track tomorrow.
