Weight Loss Buddy

I am a female in her early 40's looking to lose ~60-70 lbs.  I would like to ease myself into dedicating an hour walking 10,000 steps a day, every day, eventually.  And that is on top of the 5,000 to 8,000 steps (on a very good day) that I log at work.  My schedule is tight so I am hoping to have a buddy system that keeps me committed and accountable.

If you're interested in doing this together, please let me know!

@SVWalker  I am glad to see that you are setting goals and working toward achieving them. This is wonderful and I would love to motivate and support you...in fact we can support each other. I too am looking to loose a large amount of weight this year and have been successfully doing so since the year started. I track my progress through MyfitnessPal and Fitbit. I have send you a friend request on Fitbit and I participate in many challenges (most of which I loose lol) and am in the process of developing groups on Fitbit that cater to individuals like us. I personally follow a low-carb diet and because of this I am able to do low intensity workouts and still loose on average about 4lbs weekly.

I look forward to an inspirational friendship.

If you'd like, you can follow my Social Media Platforms as I will be doing giveaways and challenges to keep me motivated.

I can do this with you!  I need to lose 70 lbs, but would LIKE to lose 90.  That said, I'd be happy to start with 10.

I'm also around 5-6000 steps a day - but I actually can't walk as much due to a foot injury.

I started doing this 3 weeks ago.  Ate a cake and then started again.  D'oh.  I mean, we couldn't let it go to waste!

Bad Staci.  Bad.

Anyway, since then I've been making lots of salad and I've thrown out most carbs.  But I'm more interested in just being able to do these things:

1) walk up my 3 level house flights of stairs without being winded

2) Do the above WITH A LAUNDRY BASKET without thinking that I'm going to die

3) Shave without it feeling like gymnastics with razor blades

4) Walk up a hill without being winded.

5) Put on underwear without feeling like I've gotta sit down.

6) Ditto with socks

What I did to prep:  I bought the aria scale and put a post-it on it so that it doesn't ruin my entire day.

I bought a set of workout clothes at Lane Bryant. This made me feel like I could go to the gym and not be ashamed at my too tight clothes.  Also, my boobs are out of control.

So, I joined a Y and have a discounted membership, BUT if I don't go 8 times a month, they cancel it.  1) 1) So I've been doing aqua jogging - I got underwater headphones and just mosey around the deep end, but I don't feel "fat" doing it because you are light in the water.

2) I lifted weights for the first time in years on Tuesday.

3) I did 24 minutes of a step class before bailing yesterday.  I'm going to try to go again and make it to 35 minutes.  Its the first workout that I've done in a class since the early 2000's so I gave myself a pass to leave if I really felt tired.

4) I have done pilates twice.  Once for 20 minutes, once for 40 minutes, and there are moves that I can't do, but I know I will if only I stop dreading pilates.  I think Pilates will get me back the flexibility so that I can do most of my goals above, if only I would swallow my pride and do it.

What are you doing? What are your goals for next week?

Mine are: Walk the dog 1x a day - not just to go to the bathroom.

Pilates 3 times. (I do this at home with an incredibly annoying video that I've had for 20 years but I know most of the routine and it doesn't make me stand on my feet, so if my foot hurts I can do it anyway if only I wasn't dreading it.

Aquajogging 3 times.

Attempt step class again.  Step Class 2:  The Steppening
