Hi!
I'm trying to lose 75 pounds, hopefully at a rate of 1.5 pounds per week. I started on my journey a week and a half ago and I'm currently down 3.6 pounds. I'm looking forward to a healthier lifestyle and if you want friends for extra motivation feel free to add me. 🙂

Have you considered discussing this with your doctor? Not to get too personal but if you've been on that specific medication for a while, it may be that you're either at the incorrect dose or on the wrong med altogether. I've known many people on anti-depressants who have had trouble losing weight on them. Does your doctor know you're trying to lose weight? If not that should be a factor in the decision-making process of choosing a medication.

Overall though I think each individual experience is different. My partner is on anti-depressants and has never had trouble maintaining a normal weight, and he's not gained any weight as a result. However, one of my exes was on so many different types of anti-depressants/anxiety meds for so many years they slowly cause his thyroid to not function properly, now he takes a daily pill for that too.

Thanks Mike, I'm currently on my sixth antidepressant. I got so fed up of the weight gain on all of them. Been referred to a specialist who says that the new one I'm on shouldn't cause weight gain. Perhaps I'm just not on a big enough dose yet. I just know that I'm 7 stone heavier than before I was on antidepressants and find it so frustrating. I eat well on a day to day basis. If I could stop myself binging then it would make such a difference. I've lost and gained the same stone over and over again because of the binging 😞

Ugh your story sounds so familiar!! I have tried 14 different AD's this last year. My doctor tried to put me on 2 that made me gain weight and I literally refused to take them. I told him that gaining weight and depression go hand in hand and it would just make things worse.
That was Mirtazapine. Awful stuff. Worked great for my mood but made me gain within days even though I was dieting and working out.
Being on Wellbutrin (Bupropion) has made the world of a difference weight wise. But it's not doing the full job as Antidepressant, so we had to augment with another "weight neutral" AD. Its working so far. Crossing fingers it stays this way....
If I were you I would google Antidepressants for Binge Eating Disorders. Not that I am saying you have an ED, but it can only help to see which Antidepressant is specifically helpful to stop binging.
For me it was Wellbutrin. Stopped my emotional eating completely. The addiction to food is gone, now I eat because I am hungry or my body needs nutrients.
Good luck on your journey darling!! I know it's effing tough!

Hi SoftSeaSpirit - What I've found most helpful is logging my food. I've been doing this for just over a month now, and other than trying my best to get 10K steps a day, making sure I know what I'm consuming has been so helpful. I also find that reading the posts here in the community, helps to keep my motivation going. Good Luck .

HI Softsea Spirit
I started out needing to lose 96 lbs on May 19 2015, I have lost 25 and have 71 left.
things that are critical to my success
1. Track every bite
2 Eat 3 small meals and 3 snacks a day- healthy food, I do lower carb, I average 1100 cal per day
3. Get in my 11,500 steps
4. Drink 120 oz water
5. Get enough sleep
My diet is mostly lean and green.
Breakfast is egg beaters
morning snack-raw veggies and a FF SF yogurt
Lunch is a big green salad with boneless skinless chicken 2-3 oz, low fat dressing
afternoon snack is another yogurt or a piece of fruit
dinner is lean protein 4-6 oz, lots of veggies and maybe more salad
after dinner-fruit, veggies, yogurt, LF cheese stick.

I would suggest: Make a vision board and keep a food diary. The one on fitbit is really good and easy!
Picture all the small goals you want to achieve within the next year. Glue cutouts from magazines on your board - or printed pictures from the internet - What will be your "non scale victories"? (Mine were pant sizes) What are the exercises you really enjoy? Is it yoga and pilates? Find a few nice pictures of your favourite exercise and glue them on your vision board.
If its dancing and learning a new dance routine add a ballerina or a hip hop dancer to your vision board? How much time are you willing to make every day to reach your goal? Write it down. And are you willing to try new ways of eating and preparing meals?
I think it's magical what your mind can do once you have the right mindset.
Your vision board will remind you every day of the WHY, maybe the HOW and your peer groups here online will help you when you are having a bad day or when you have a success to celebrate.
Share your story and share the things that are difficult with us. We may be able to help!!! 🙂
I personally want to help people to feel better. I started out with 58 lbs more than today and my life has taken such a turn for the better - I dont want anyone to waste another second so they can feel just as good and more confident and more energetic as I do.

Hi there! Well... it depends if you had a lot more than 1200 cal yesterday. If you are just dangling barely around 1300-1400 cal I would suggest that you add 1 tbsp of nut butter or a piece of avocado or something healthy, but calorie rich to your diner tonight.
As long as you feed your body well and with good food, you will see results on the scale and in your clothes and feel fitter and better. But if you deprive your body of the energy it needs to sustain itself (the bare minimum) your energy will go down and you will get tired easily.
Feed your body well and you will see results! Promise!!
I started out with having 2000 cal a day - sometimes more, sometimes less. Never below 1200!
Now that I have lost 56 lbs I am eating 1600-1800 cal. I am never hungry (ever!) and if I am, I review what I had that day and the day before and may go over my calorie budget but ONLY with good, healthy food.
Usually a protein shake will do the trick. I'll get another 250 cal in (170 cal for the shake and 50 cal for the almond milk) and know I am giving my body the equivalent of 6 huge bowls of salad, vitamins, minerals, digestive enzymes, probiotics and antioxidants.

Hello everyone I am new to fit bit Sept.6 still learning my way around. I have been using MFP one month prior to that I have lost 14lb so far with 117lb left to lose. I am always looking for new friends on both sites for motivation, support and competition. Has anyone almost completed or has completed their weight loss journey of 100lbs? Are there any tips you can share on how and what kept you motivated I feel this will be a long journey for me. I follow a LCHFD most days of the week. Allowing myself a cheat day once a week to have whatever I am craving. I weight everything I eat on a food scale, track every bite I eat (even the not so great items ie candy and soda over labor day weekend.) I eat a lot of healthy fats, lean protein, nuts, fruit and veggies. Any ideas tips or support greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Alright everyone...back to business here. This is a great group and lets not see it dwindle down to nothing. Pretty much all of us have slowed way down on the tread. Are we all slowing down and letting old habits creep back in to our lives preventing us from moving forward with our goals? I know I have been. Why does it feel like a MONUMENTAL effort to even chop some veggies up for my lunch tomorrow, let alone get my ass in gear and go for a walk.
Anyone want to recommit with me and start up the daily check in again? I could really use some support and also it's so helpful to me when I'm doing the same for others. I swear accountability is contagious.
Who's in???
pretty please???
