Weight Loss Goal 50 to 100 Pounds

Hi!

I'm trying to lose 75 pounds, hopefully at a rate of 1.5 pounds per week. I started on my journey a week and a half ago and I'm currently down 3.6 pounds.  I'm looking forward to a healthier lifestyle and if you want friends for extra motivation feel free to add me.  🙂

@hayleycan I'm so thankful you wrote this post.  I'm right there...slipping back.  My food, my step count...all slipping.

I'm happy to recommit with you.  I'm recommiting to:

  • planning my food
  • tracking my food
  • 10,000 steps each day
  • checking in at least twice per week (everyday may not be possible for me)

Thanks again for waking us up!!  I'm with you!!!

Guess I should have added some info in! I have been tracking my food/cal sporadically, but am doing better, i am back up to 64 oz water a day, in 3 days I increase by 8.. every 3 days increase until I am at 124 oz a day.

Started a boxing class 3 weeks ago doing it once a week, this week I added in my second class. So excited and nervous. Being a Cancer Survivor and just getting the OK to even begin excercises 3.5 months ago I want to do it the right way

Hayleycan, and everyone…How’s it going? Are you motivated and strong? Had plenty of water? 🙂

I’ve been at this since the beginning of August and have been making real progress. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could take your fitbit out of the box, strap it on your wrist, wear it – whatever, and just watch the pounds melt off with little to no effort on your part? Not the case, is it? Fitbit isn’t the solution, it’s a tool. A very helpful tool that allows you all the info you need to make informed decisions, at your fingertips. With that said, its work; hard work and lots of it and I agree with  you (Hayleycan), we are stronger supporting each other than we are doing this alone.

I have a plan which has slowly evolved into a routine that is working for me. When I want to stray, either eat more than I should or not go for my walk, I can refocus myself by chanting “If you stick with your plan, things go according to plan”. I know, it’s kind of lame, but it has been working for me, I’m down 35 lbs.

I work remotely out of my house and have 2 desks. One is the garden variety desk, the other is a treadmill desk that I made by taking a piece of melamine board and cut a hole in the center for the treadmill console and then attached legs at a height that was ergonomically correct for me. I’ve set up my technology so that I have monitors, keyboards and mice at both desks that plug into my docking station. This way I can switch back and forth just by moving myself. I went as far as getting a split keyboard, so that I can maintain correct posture while typing and walking. With this setup, I can walk an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon while I work. Then in the evening, I try to get another walk in, this one focused more on cardio (going up hills). With this routine, I can pretty consistently get 15K steps in a day.TreadmillDesk2.JPG

On the weekends, I used to meet up with a friend to play scrabble all day on Saturday. Now, before we sit down to play, we go for a walk and make sure I at least get to 10K. Supportive friends are the best! We still play scrabble, just not as many games, but really the point of the game was to stay in touch with my friend, and I think we have better conversations during the walking part of our visits than we do while playing. Talk about a win, win, win.

I’ve not found a good routine for Sunday but I’ve made myself a deal that if by the evening I don’t have enough steps, I will go out and walk around my circular driveway until I do. I don’t like doing that, which motivates me to be sure I get those steps in before the end of the day.

Well, I hope everyone is doing well and sticking to their plan. 🙂

Karen

Morning Ladies!!

I'm happy to have a few of us livening up the board again.  I think its so important that we have support.

I think slipping away is repeating a pattern that we all dearly want to break free from.

@BlueFlute2Play - awesome!  You have a treadmill desk.  That is so cool. I'm not sure I'm coordinated enough for that but good on you.  Your discipline with your steps is super inspiring!

@GiaKat - I've always wanted to try boxing.  I hope you have a lot of fun with with.  Being a Cancer survivor is amazing.  I can't even imagine how scary that was.  Let's make sure together we all keep each other motivated to live our life the best we can.  We owe it to ourselves.

@paperclip - Check in when you can.  If not daily then on the days you can.  Let's make sure we don't slip backwards.  It's just too **ahem** easy to fall back in to old habits.  I need your help, and I'm here for you.

@fbuser2015 - keep checking back in.  Let's get this all going again.  I know how you feel when you think you're going to see a result and it's either nothing or a bit in the wrong direction and you're like WHAT??!!! Noooooo! Then you have to fight the "whybothers" and no one needs that battle.  Keep up the awesome work!

So it's Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend which means Turkey dinners a plenty.  I actually have 3 that I need to go to this weekend!  My stragegy..Get my husband to get my food for me.  He's a lighter eater than I am and doesn't load up based on his eyeballs like I do.  So I'm asking him to bring me my food.  (Picture me just sitting there... snap my fingers... Mike... get my dinner!)  Trust me it will be more like "Sweeeeeeetiieeeee, would you pretty please get my dinner for me so I don't pig out and get all sad afterwards...puuuleeeeaaase"

That's more like it.

So for this week though my goals are not really focused on eating as the priorty.  Sleep is my issue.  I tend to get home later from work, then by the time you eat, relax, procratinate about something, it's 11-12 oclock and I'm still not ready to go to sleep.  Now I'm wired from whatever I've been doing and can't fall asleep until like 12:30 - 1am.

So my goal for the next weekish is to get in bed - no electronics for 10pm.  I can read a book (some kind of printed paper doohicky) for about a half hour and then lights out.

I'd like to get 10 nights in a row where I have 7-8 hours of sleep a night.

I figure that once I've caught up on some sleep I'll be able to focus better.  With the focus will come the energy to meal plan and prep, walk more, yoga more and just do more.  But right now I'm poopy tired and just really want to lie on my sofa.

So that's my plan.

Have a great day ladies... and say hi and check in.  Be present in this journey with me.  We can do it together!

My path isn't always straight or clear, but at least I'm on the way somewhere.

So my checki in day isn't until Thursday but as I was putting my Fitbit back on after charging it this AM in the car on the way to work....once I got inside I started thinking man this thing is a little more snug than normal, what's going on?!? I looked down and in my haste to get out of the car I had put the watch on the hole 4th from the end. When I bought my Fitbit charge hr a few months ago I purchased the small, and could just barely fit the last hole...I almost went back inside to exchange for the large.

After such a discouraging check in measurement and weight wise last week, it was a nice reminder that yes this is working and I am getting smaller. It just might be that I'm losing inches from places where I'm not measuring weekly.

Ok, now no one tell me that the wristband stretches with wear lol....I'm motivated!

Keep working hard everyone.

Thanks Mike!

I'm super tired today....just kinda dragging. I haven't had to "talk" myself into going to the gym in awhile, it's become routine like ok today is Zumba, today is boxing, or whatever...but I have a feeling today I'm going to have to really talk myself into it. Hopefully by the time I get done with work I will be motivated!

BlueFlute - love your desk setup.  Smart and industrious.  I just took to sitting on a large exercise ball at my desk instead of a chair.  I never seem to move from the chair and with the ball I at least stretch my back, do balance stuff when I'm on the phone etc.

I had been doing well with weight loss mostly by cutting out junk and starting to walk.  The passed 3 weeks have been way to stressful and I have stalled out.  Time to recommit, and do a lot more, which I am finding hard today.  You guys seem so motivated and creative.  I could use the support, motivation, inspiration.

The activity that seems impossible today, will soon be your warm-up

I haven't checked in in a few months -life has been pretty crazy! Right now, I'm juggling a full time job with a commute, a full grad school load and an internship! So my weight loss has slowed down, I just don't have the time and energy to hit the numbers I was getting in the summer ( I'd worked my way up to 25k steps a day from around 7k a day when I started).

However, I was determined to not lose any ground, so even though I went easier on myself, I still exercised and monitored my eating. And I've lost another 11 lbs since July. Only 3 lbs a month, but still progress! I especially excited because today at hit 149 - haven't seen THAT number on the scale in 4 years!

SW : 178
CW : 149
GW : 127 (the least I've weighed as a healthy adult. I'll reevaluate there. I might have another 5-10 more to go. I'm 5'2.5")

Whoot! More than halfway. And 10lbs until I'm no longer "overweight" according to bmi scales. I honestly had stopped believing this was possible...the fitbit is the best $100 I've ever spent 🙂

@Bobbinyc sorry for the delasy in resposne. Have you recommitted? I am hoping you found a way to get back into that "sweet spot" of whatever if was you were doing that was working for you.

My desk....I LOVE it...and use it just about every workday. Sure, there are days where the task I'm working on doesn't lend itself to the motion of walking but i figure if I spend at least a half hour morning and afternoon walking while i'm working....then my evening walk can be cut in half!

The exercise ball substitution for a chair sounds great! How long have you been using it?

I hear now that we're past Halloween, we in "the holiday season"....I'm firmly committed to walking 10k a day. i can do more if/when inspiration and energies align, but no matter how tired i am, i WILL do 10k. Anyone else want to commit to that?

I hope all of you are doing well!

hey guys,

Sorry for the silence...I just returned from the most amazing trip to China.  Got plenty of steps in every day but the food was plentiful so any weightloss I initially dreamed of getting out of it went poof!  LOL

Anyway, just getting over a cold and jet-lag but getting back into the swing of things.  I was away almost 3 weeks and, although I LOVED it there, I'm happy to be getting back to routines.  I need them if I'm going to be successful.

I hope everyone is doing well.  I now have to play catchup on these logs.

it's been a very tough month n half for me!! I have missed cardio boxing classes, and fell off the wagon. Life and work got in the way of me again.

I always say it won't happen, but it does. I need to be accountable to myself!!!!

Hope all are still going strong!

75lbs to go. A few weeks ago I found out I was Pre Diebetic also my BP has been pretty high. That was an eye opener for me. Just got my first fitbit (ONE) last week. So far I am loving it. I have it set to lose 1 lb per week for now. After the Holidays I may change it to 1.5 lbs per week. So far so good. Good Luck to everyone.

Well, I completely fell off the wagon.  Now I'm back and starting over.  My fitbit broke and I finally replaced it.  This time with a fitbit Charge (no HR).  I'm liking seeing the actual numbers.

So, here we go again...I'm hoping some of you help me along this long ride with me yet again.

@paperclip - I have a surge and a few days ago it stopped holding a charge for more than 8 hours. I called fitbit, they cerified by looking into my account and replaced it, free of charge. My fitbit was 5 months old. If yours wasnt very old, you might want to give them a call....depending on why it broke.

Regardless, kudos to you for getting back to it. It is a marathon, not a sprint.

I am very glad to hear you now have a Charge HR @paperclip; nevertheless, @BlueFlute2Play's suggestion on reaching out to our Support team to check the status of your warranty is an excellent idea.

We can do this, let's keep losing that weight on the 2016! Heart
