Weight Loss Goal 50 to 100 Pounds

Hi!

I'm trying to lose 75 pounds, hopefully at a rate of 1.5 pounds per week. I started on my journey a week and a half ago and I'm currently down 3.6 pounds.  I'm looking forward to a healthier lifestyle and if you want friends for extra motivation feel free to add me.  🙂

Hello all and Happy New Year!  I have dusted off my fitbit flex and am trying to get in at least 4 outdoor walks each week (live in South Eastern Pennsylvania).  So far so good in the first two weeks of January.

A little bit about my most recent journey - I am 47 and last year starting in March I had an "ah ha" moment and decided to be healthier.  Over the next 6 months I stayed the course and lost 28 pounds through eating better and trying my hand at yoga along with walking more.  I fell off in the fall and gained about 5 punds back (literally by stopping yoga as classes did not match up with my schedule any longer) and decided over the holidays that I need to get back on track.  My immediate goal is 30 pounds by my cross country road trip (any geocachers out there?) that begins at the end of June.  But my ultimate goal is to lose 80 in total from now through ???

So - thanks for helping by just being on this forum!  I look forward to gaining some friends just for motivation as I only walk about 9000 - 10,000 steps a day - thanks so much!

Hi, Thank so much for the encouragement. I certainly need it. I have days where it really hurts to move around but I keep pushing forward. I like your concept of giving the weight away so as not to gain it back! I will have to remember that!!

It is so hard to get back on track when you get off track, but it can be done.  I am fitting into clothes that haven't fit me for years, yes.  I am jogging, oh is that the earth shaking, no, I'm jogging, yes, and I am so happy about that.  I went to the drug store and sat at one of the blood pressure machines and check my bp, oh happy, happy day 110/76, oh happy day, it was 148/90.  I LOVE fitbit!  This crazy little device is helping me change my life.   Now, don't get me wrong, there are days when no one would believe I was trying to get healthy, because of what I was eating, but I'm doing so much better than before.  I know that this life style change is a process and it will take time and I have to give myself a break when I fall off that horse.  A lower blood pressure, fitting into clothes that were once too small, giving away 28 pounds in a couple of months, all good, all good.  I'm going to keep taking it one day at a time and moving forward.   I have to stop expecting miracles, they have already happened and I need to enjoy them, but the miracle was in the form of hard work and little changes, and I'm happy with that.  I really thankful for a place where I can come and share my successes and my failures, they both make me who I am and I'll be a better person because of my success and failure.   Have a fitbit good day.

Yes....going to get those 10k steps today! Looking forward to the long weekend.  I'm back to tracking with Weight Watcher's and just got this Fitbit One for my birthday and a gym membership for Christmas. I also got a Nutri Ninja blender so I'm making smoothies every day which I love.  I'm feeling so much more in control and I'm glad the holidays are over!

Wow 100 lbs in 8 months, that's great! How did you do it? What did you do? I've lost 28 lbs in a little over 2 months and it is hard work. I'm working out everyday and watching, sort of, what I am eating. I know I have to keep better track of my food intake if I really want to see that scale move downward. Any advice or information would be appreciated.

How's the weekend going? The weekends are harder for me to get my steps in. I think it is because they are less structured. Anyone else have this problem? What do you do? I usually end up on my treadmill at the end of the evening making up the gap of where i am at w my steps and where i want to be.

Hope you all are having a fantastic weekend.

I've been doing okay.  I have recently been diagnosed with pre-diabetes so I have new motivation for a new lifestyle.  I've changed to following the Mayo Clinic Diabetes Diet as a food plan.  It's basically just teaching you to have a healthy lifestyle and it's working.  Between first week of Jan and now I've lost 10.8 lbs.

I've been regularly hitting my 10k steps. Some days are easier than others.  But I'm feeling determined and feeling great.  I actually bought a top the other day one size smaller than I've been buying over the past year.  It was a nice feeling.

Hoping everyone else is doing great.  Please check in...keep inspired and inspiring!!!

@paperclip - Sorry to hear about the pre-diabetic, but glad you are making the right changes. For me the motivating factor what when I tore 3 disks - the pain was excruciating and that made me stick to my regimen. the 10k steps are so important - way to go for getting those in too.

Smaller sizes are very rewarding. Keep up the good work!

How is everyone else doing?

Hi all, I am at the start of hopefully my final weight loss journey. I have done this a few times now and each time I have more to lose. I have a whopping 123lbs to lose or 55.5kg. I have done three kilos to date at a  rate of aroung 0.5kg per week. I am in my 50's so I am happy to go slow and steady as I dont want to stress my body too much. I also have a grand paranoia of loose skin. I am hoping that if I go slowly it will shrink better.

I have been very happy with my Fitbit, it really motivates me. I have gone from struggling to doing 5000 steps per day to this weeks goal of 10,000 per day. At first my back, feet and knees were screaming at me, now they are just whimpering 🙂

I love the things about it that I didn't know that I was buying at the time. The online community and the groups are a good motivator and its nice to meet people on the way.

The calorie counting and food analysis have been fascinating too. I love to see the breakdown of carbs, protein and fat. I am eating much better. My empahsis is on healthy eating and I am finding this is not difficult to stick to. If I am hungry I eat and I dont worry about the calories until after I have satisfied myself. This a is definately a key for me as if I feel deprived I think about food all the time.

I like the friends list with the steps too. The competitive me likes to see me climbing up the rankings.

Hi all! I have a large amount of weight to lose. I want to lose 140 lbs. I have done this journey too many times. I lost 95 lbs the first time around, 50 lbs the 2nd time around, and now I am back to square one 😞  I know it is possible to lose the weight, but I am having such a hard time finding the motivation this time. I could really use the support. I have had my fitbit since November 2015, and I try to keep pretty active. The challenges really help. But I really need to step it up. I have already lost 22 lbs since October, but put 7 back on, so I need to make sure I stay going in the right direction. Feel free to add me as a friend so we can motivate each other. I look forward to it!!

@TashaMac , @Move.It.Move.It - welcome Ladies! 🙂 I'm so glad you are here and we can encourage and motivate each other.

I think a lot of us have played the lose it, gained it back game. And you know what? I don't think the past should stop us even one little bit from continueing to try. This time i've come to realize that as long as i want to be fit and healthy, it will always be a struggle but that struggle is so worth it. Doesnt mean we have to be perfect every day, just consistent most of the time. I am seeing great results w this approach, down almost 75 lbs since aug 3 2015 and i know you will have success here if you stick w it too.

We can do this, lets cheer each other on and celebrate all our successes and choices....even bad choices can be celebrated if we learn from them 🙂

Good luck Ladies...and everyone on this site!

I recently learned from a dietition that those of us who've yo-yo'd over the years will have more difficulty losing weight than those who've not yo-yo'd. Yet another "benefit" to years of struggling LOL

It's okay.  I'm currently in a good head space and seeing your posts definitely helps.  I've lost 10+ lbs since the new year and have another 96+ to go.  This 10 lbs has made such a difference.  I feel great inside.  It's amazing how eating healthy leaves me feeling less bloated and more energetic.  I'm feeling motivated.

In June I'm going to see people I've not seen in 20+ years...I'm determined to look and feel amazing.  My goal is to lose 30+ pounds by then (it'll be the lightest I've been in 5 years).  Actually, my real goal is 10 lbs per month (starting Feb 1, ending May 31)  I don't mind giving myself stretch targets - it doesn't demotivate me if I don't make it.

That being said, any additional weightloss ideas to help me along are welcome!!

I feel same about the healthy eating. I am really enjoying my food. My aim this time is to satify and nourish myself. I am eating when hungry and exactly what I want. I am trying to listen to my body. So far it is working and I have lost 4.5kg or 10lbs since Christmas.

My previous weight loss efforts have been concentrated on cutting out and deprevation. I have lost and gained significant amounts of weight a few times and I need to figure out a way of losing weight this time that will last for the rest of my life.

I am starting to suspect that my body is a very good at keeping and maintaining my fat stores especially if it thinks it is going to be short changed 🙂
