Weight loss/body fat percentage loss

I'm using my Aria scales to track my weight loss only lately it has stalled. On the other hand my body fat has dropped. Is this possible? What is a significant body fat loss over two months? Thanks.

Are you doing a lot of fitness? How is it you're losing weight - just diet changes or exercise added in?

I think in this circumstance the expression "ditch the scales watch the waist" plays a heavy part. When you're losing weight it can be quite consistent to begin with, but then seems to take forever to lose 1lb. However, at this point you can be losing inches on your waist/arms/thighs etc. It's to do with the change in your body composition. Less fat = a higher muscle % which can mean your weight stays relatively the same but your clothes feel bigger etc.

Without really knowing what your routine is it's difficult to offer you any advice, but a fat % reduction is actually the healthier goal - rather than simply dropping weight. You'd rather get rid of fat, than lose muscle weight and look tiny on the scales but be completely inactive.

Have you taken body measurements, for instance of your waistline? Fat loss should show in smaller measurements. In the absence of measurements, you can check with clothes that were known to be snug previously. How "significant" fat loss can take place in two months would depend on the starting level. BIA scales such as the Aria are not the most reliable way to determine body fat, but if reported body fat % has consistently come down over a period of several weeks (assuming weighing several times a week at the same time of the day and in the same conditions), it probably indicates a real drop in body fat.

I always use getting into my jeans and trousers easy as a good testament to whether I'm losing or not. (No those Levis aren't shrinking, I'm getting fatter, lol. ) I've lost weight quickly by running up and downstairs in an apartment and walking around a small town. They didn't serve biscuits and gravy in that town either.

The Aria is about 8% above my actual body fat. However, I still use it in combination with other things to track overall progress (such as clothes becoming loose, looking in the mirror, others making comments, etc). When I purchased the Aria back in May I was at a high of 42%, currently am down to 28%. There have been fluctuations over a period of a few days to a few weeks but other than that it's generally been on a decline at about the same rate as my weight loss. For example, over the last 3 months I have lost 15.3 lbs, and it shows me that 15.1 lbs was body fat.
