Good evening! I'm interested in being and having a weight loss buddy. Great idea for a group.
I just finished reading the first section of The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg. An important part of changing a bad habit is to have people to support you - and to support others. I know my bad habit is stress eating and I'm determined to work on creating new and healthier habits. It's a great read, if you're interested.
In the meantime, is anyone interested in some mini goals? I saw some of you working on an August challenge. What is that?

I'm a little late to the party, but I'm here now. I've had my fitbit for awhile now, and also in the 30-50 pound area as well. I have a desk job, and I drive an hour each way to get to work. I'm not sure if I will log my food on my fitbit or use it just to track food/weight/sleep. What do you all do?
Thanks,
Amy

Hi, Amy. I'm new, too, to the party:) Better late than never, right?
I use my fitbit to log my food and steps/exercise. I stopped using the sleep logging because I found that I really am quite restless and just knowing that made me more tired than I'd normally be if I were ignorant of the fact that I technically had a terribly restless sleep. Weird, huh?
I was working out with someone who once told me that 80% of successful weight loss is watching what you put in your mouth. Exercise is great, but you can exercise all you want, but you will not lose weight if you're not certain you're burning more calories than you are putting into your body. That's why I am tracking my food. I used to use My Fitness Pal, but since Fitbit modified their data, it' just easier now to use one program.
I usually am GREAT for a while - getting 10K steps, keeping my food/exercise within the right parameters, etc. - but then something happens and I'm off track. Then I usually gain the weight back and am back where I started. I'm sick of that and am ready to make a permenant change. Here's to hoping we all help each other:)

I have my goal set at 50 pounds. I actually have more than that to lose, but at this point, I think I'd feel pretty good with a 50 pound loss. I could use all the friends I can get, so if someone wants to add me, please feel free!

Good morning, I got my run/walk intervals in early this morning and then discovered my FitBit was not charged. Tough day yesterday, employee issues. Ugh, It sucks being an emotional eater.

This is a great topic. I too need to lose 40+ lbs. I will add you to my Friends. Glad to know I'm not the only one. Apparently, I'm not the only one by far. I am addicted to Dr. Pepper AND have a desk job. My lower portion is bigger than my upper portion so getting UP from my chair would be a HUGE first step to losing this weight.
Together, we can do it!!!!

I got my youngest off to college yesterday. Bitter sweet. Didn't get to workout yesterday or today. I did clean house from 1:00-5:00. Cleaned both of my boy's rooms from top to bottom. How can boys be so messy? Missing them both very much but so proud of the young men they have both become.
Off to bed I go, I need to run in the morning.

Feeling very frustrated at the moment. I've put on 20 pounds since April. How did this happen?! I need a community of supporters looking for the same encouragement and support that I'm needing myself.

Well so far my mini goals are to weigh in more frequently, more water, and wearing my fitbit daily. I'm hoping by the end of the week I will be able to see my average number of steps. How many "extra" steps do you do in a day to hit goal? I have only hit 10K steps maybe twice. I'm looking for a way to hit it more often. Now I do other exercises that I don't log ie Zumba on Sunday for 2 hours, and I just started Piyo. Should I be logging these or will it mess up my tracking?
