I've been trying to lose about 50 lbs for the past year or so; but everything I've tried came up short, I just started with my new fitbit charge today. I'm hopeful that it'll help keep me motivated; and get me moving on a daily basis, we all think that it's encouragement from others that gets us going when excersise is tough. The truth is it doesn't have to be tough; encouragement from everyone else only takes you so far, in order to make it work you have to be the first person to encourage yourself to do it. Find a reason to lose the weight; pick an example of a person you don't ever want to be, or find a person who inspires you to be like them. Do what your hero does to stay in shape; find a new activity that you can enjoy while still losing the weight.
The best part is the activities don't have to be complicated; they don't have to be hard, they just have to burn calories. walk the dog; do some yard work, go swimming. If I can lose weight doing this; so can you, and it's always more fun with friends and people to challenge you.
So join a group and lose weight together! It's only hard when you're on your own.

I started with a flex a few months ago, switched to a charge HR, and went from 200 lbs to under 183 (as you know, weight fluctuates throughout the day/week I bounce between 180-183) lbs routinely this week. And I am not done. Motivation comes in many forms. For me, my Daughter lost her Grandmother, and Aunt (my Sister) within a year. She came to me and told me that I was not allowed to die, as it would be too hard on her. Now I know that is a promise I cannot keep. But I can sure lose the weight, get my blood pressure down, avoid diabetes, and put off upsetting her for a long time. So I have my motivation! You will know you are in the groove when you say, 'I am going flake off today because work was hard'. But within an hour after you get home, and check your charge, and feel antsy because you haven't hit your step goal, so you put on your workout clothing and go on a 2.7 mile powerwalk (that was me today).
