Weight loss with severe injuries (mva)

I was in a severe, nearly fatal car accident 13 months ago. I sustained several orthopedic injuries including hip, pelvis, knees, leg, ankle, and shoulder as well as a brain injury. I was in hospital for 6 months and have gained 50ish lbs. I feel disgusting.

I recently had another surgery and am on crutches with a boot cast and physio almost daily. I am on a lot of pain meds as well as others (anti-depressants, stool softener, vitamins, sleep meds etc.) and even with lower calories input for the day and healthy choices I'm still gaining. I am going to be on crutches, and then cane etc over the next 4-6 months and I can't keep gaining weight. Anyone have similar stories with success? Anyone know of meds that make it harder to lose/make you gain weight? Any suggestions for me? I also had to move back in with my parents as I can't cook for myself, do stairs or drive. I have a support worker who helps me with meals sometimes, but I'm generally not in charge of meals except for breakfast and lunch.

I do go to the gym and was in water walking and bike/limited weights before my surgery but was still gaining weight at that time too. Most of my day is in apts/therapies of some sort, and I also have to have a nap mid day or my brain will shut down. So frustrated

Thanks for your responses in advance.

I am so sorry for all you are going through. Sounds very painful.

How many caloirues a day are you eating?

Women should not go below 1200 calories a day.

Measuring your servings for a while is a good idea to see how much you really are eating

Its more about what you eat than exercise.
