Weight tracking on weekly fitness report

Hello. I'd like to understand how the weight loss numbers are calculated on the weekly fitness report. It states a number of pounds gained or lost in the week, and how this compares to last week. I log my weight daily and for the life of me cannot figure out how these stats are calculated. It will say I gained, when I actually lost. And "same as previous week" when neither my weight or my gain/loss is the same as the last week. My goal was 127 lbs (met yay). I can't recall exactly when I set that. I've pasted the stats below, also have this in a spreadsheet if that is helpful. I have an original Alta, in case that matters. Thanks.

@CathyJH -- Is the weekly report you reference the email you get from fitbit called "Your weekly progress report from Fitbit" which then says "Hi, CathyJH! Here are your stats for [Mar. 12 - Mar. 18]" ?

I tried making sense out of mine, and I think the number in your column "Weekly report" (i.e., 2.6 lb loss, for week of Feb. 25) is actually the difference between your "best day" on the week in question, and the weight you started at when you set your goal.

In my case, I've reset the end goal and the starting weight a couple of times this year as I try to project various scenarios as I've tried to gain weight, so all I could really check was the most recent report as compared to my weigh-ins for that time period.  You would think the comparison would be to your average weekly weight, but that didn't seem to be the case for me last week.  I'll check to see if the pattern holds next week.

I cannot figure out what the "same as ..." or "Down ___ since last week" means.  It should either compare to the prior week's weight or the starting weight, but since I've changed my goals a few times I don't have good data to work with.

Yes that is the report in question. Thanks for trying to figure it out. To be honest I find the report useless without knowing the calculations behind those numbers - they just don't make sense. I do track my weight daily so can do my own calculations, in a spreadsheet if needed. Some of the other stats are equally confusing. For example this week mine says 6 out of 6 days exercising, down 2 from last week. Huh? Last week did I exercise 8 out of 6 days?

I was hoping that someone at Fitbit could provide explanation of how the data is calculated. I think I will turn off that report if I can or just delete it without opening it.

Thanks again and good luck reaching your goals!

@CathyJH and @Baltoscott -- ya gotta admit, that report sure is pretty.

(pretty dumb, yes, but pretty nevertheless)

Hahahaha! Yes it certainly is pretty ... too bad the data makes no sense.
