What am I doing wrong as far as calorie burn goes?

Hi everyone, I'm walking at least 13,000-15,000 steps a day, 8-10k's a day, 12 -15 stairs - so can anyone explain why I can't reach my calorie burn target? I have noticed that if I walk first thing in the morning, I seem to always hit my target, but as it's winter here I can only do that on a weekend because it's pitch black up until 6.00am, when I'm getting ready to head off to work. So every week day I'm missing that calorie burn taget by about 300. It's really buggingme and I'd love to hear from anyone that has the same problem or can offer advice. PS. It's my first post here, so please be kind!

Welcome to the forums!

How are you figuring to set your calories burn for the week? Maybe you are setting it to high.

I'm just using what it configured when I first started which is 2610. I'm working on a 1000 defecit. I've been doing this for about 10 weeks and have lost 8 kilos.

Have you incorporated high intensity interval training? Those burn up to 400 calories per hour and works on body fat.

Which means every step you take, you carry 8kg less around with you
Your calorie burn target will get MUCH harder to hit as you lose weight, it sucks, I actually have to diet now!

Are you just walking around for 13-15K steps per day or are you really exercising?  IMO you need to raise your heart rate and sweat a little bit for walking to really burn calories.  Just meandering around at a slow pace all day doesn't do much for your calorie burn.

You say its winter there is also indoor walking. Look up Leslie Sansone on YouTube.

I agree you need to raise you heart rate some way. All day steps will not do that.

Walking around is a lot better than sitting on the sofa.  Not everything is going to be a marathon.  Motion = burned energy.  So yes, the walking around 13-15k steps is a lot better for you than nothing.

You would be better off doing those 13K stsps in an hour and repeating 10x a day but then again you are getting a 130K steps so it is not the same question.  🙂 🙂
