Bring them to your workplace and let your co-workers eat them for you Smiley Happy

If they are no longer at home, you won't be tempted to eat them.

There's nothing wrong in letting yourself indulge in a piece of chocolate or candy every now and then, after all we are only human!! 🙂 But as long as you make the effort to exercise and burn more calories than you consume, then it's all good! A great way to do this is to just keep track of what you eat, so you know exactly how much more you can allow yourself or how much more you need to burn off. Happy holidays! 😄

I say toss them!

It's all about willpower!  I have a ton of chocolate and candy in my house from Christmas, and am usually pretty good at letting myself have a couple peices during the day, but if self control is an issue, either give it away or throw it away.  Most of mine will eventually get tossed.  I hate throwing away food, but it's a symptom of the holidays.  And next year, ask people not to bring sweets. 🙂

I had the same problem! I told myself i will never get where I want to go if I eat it and I also pretended like it wasn't there. If you are truley hungry then go eat some fruit to satisfy your tummy and your cravings.

I have chocolate, pretzels, candy and brownies in the house right now without a problem. I get all the "sweet" I want from all the fruit I eat. If I truly want chocolate, I plan for it in my daily calories and fat percentages. Use your fitbit log to play with your calories each day.

I have the same issue, but compounded by the fact that I received about 5 boxes of chocolates as gifts.

I have been allowing myself a small amount each day (only the good stuff not the crap), but after I have done some exercise (usually a walk or a swim).

Also when I have guests over, I always put some out to share, along with some healthy options to balance it out.

This time of year is really hard when it comes to temptation, so all any of us can do is do our best and not beat ourselves up if we slip

Good luck @edge

My mother says, "I can resist anything but temptation."

So, either remove yourself from the goodies, or remove the goodies from your home.

The best way is to allow yourself to eat the chocolate without beating yourself up about it, because trying to force yourself not to just makes it harder and harder to resist the temptation. By making the chocolate a food that is readily available instead of an inaccessible 'treat', it will become less appealing. I know that is easier said than done! Here are some extra ways to avoid candy and chocolates during the holidays.

Buy sweet fruit (apples, grapes, peaches) and eat those whenever you have a craving for chocolate. Not good enough? Pick out healthier snacks to grab and put them next to the candy/chocolate. That way you'll see your choices whenever you wander towards the junk food and hopefully lean towards the healthier option.

Put the candy and chocolate away. Out of sight, out of mind.

Toss away your least favorite candies and chocolates! Those are just empty calories waiting to be eaten because they are available, even if you don't like them that much. Or give them away to friends/co-workers!

Write down how many pieces of chocolate you've had each day or add a tally each time you grab for another chocolate. Being conscience about how many chocolates you have will remind you to grab for an apple instead of another candy bar. If you don't want to write them down, then log it in here!

Remember, it is perfectly okay to eat chocolate once and awhile! If you really get cravings, try switching over to dark chocolate. Not only is it healthier for you, but it is more filling. A square of dark chocolate a day is actually recommended! Isn't that great? Happy Holidays and keep in touch with the community!

If you don't open them, you can freeze boxes of chocolate and use them as hostess gifts later in the year. That is what I do. 😉

Totally agree with Tayo

Eat them once in awhile and burn them with those extra steps or a more frequent gym visits.

Eating them once in while is the driving force to work harder I feel.

what you don't see or buy you don't eat. ban them from the house until you are happy with your weight and goals set for yourself. Its like telling a smoker to stop smoking in a house full of smokers or cigarettes. Your will power gets weakened by seeing them around so don't have them lying around and avoid candy stores or places known for weakening your resistance, its the same advice for smokers or heavy drinkers who are trying to quit.

Well...i eat...and then i do extra exercise. And it is working. I am choco addicted and I need to drink coca cola to wake me up as I hate caffeine. So guess what...those 2 stuff is a killer for almost everyone. But I am loosing weight by drinking less and eating less choco....plus stuffing my belly with water....makes me feel nauseaus.

As long you burn more than the intake...i think it is fine. The worst enemy is the sedentarism and fried food.

What if you say you don't like it. Just lie to yourself... The power of suggestion can be very strong. This may take some time, but it might work. If you have 1 or 2 that are your favorites instead of saying I don't like chocolate try I don't like milk chocolate (since dark is better anyway) or try saying I don't like caramel (even thought it's your favorite... opt for the ones that you won't eat as many of).
