I've lost 18lbs since october and could do with some incentive to keep going. I still have another 59lbs to lose!!!! How much weight do you have to lose before you get a badge??

Do you use an Aria scale?
I believe that ALL badges, including weight, are only granted from data collected by a device and not by manually recorded activities or weights. That goes for steps, floors, distance, and weight too.
So to get weight badges, I believe you have to be using a scale that will pass the data itself.

so unless I use the Aria scale I will never get any weight loss badges?? That's rubbish!!! Come on fitbit!! sort it out!! That's unfair!!

I would expect fitbit to trust people to enter their correct weight. After all, it's yourself that will suffer if you fabricate your weight loss. Also, fitbit can't verify what we've eaten when we enter it, nor can they verify our activity completely as you could easily give the tracker to someone else to wear or add additional exercise that you haven't done....and if you wanted to you could get someone else to stand on the fitbit aria and record their weight!! So really, I dont see why we can't be trusted to enter our own weight to earn badges.

Don't shoot the messenger. I was just trying to answer the original question. I don't think it is a matter of Fitbit needing to "sort this out" -- I am pretty sure the decision was very intentional on their part. So regardless of whether or not you or I agree, I was just trying to help you understand why you have not seen a weight loss badge.

Personally, I don't care so much about weight badges. Plus, do you lose a badge if you gain a couple of pounds? I'm down anywhere from 15-20 pounds depending on the day, but I don't want to get "punished" by losing a badge every time I eat too much salt one day and then weigh more the next morning! 🙂
Keep giving me those step/floor/mile badges, though!

Give yourself some credit for how much you've lost--I think the first few pounds are among the hardest because it doesn't happen without a LOT of changes made at once.

If you can get it, I would recoment getting an Aria (you do need to have access to WiFi). Had mine about a year. My standard process is, is that when I'm staking a shower, I turn ofn the water and while it's getting hot, I step on the scale.
The problem with manual entry can be this:
I had my yearly physical in Oct. I knew my current weight, but at the doc's wanted to see how close my scale was (and at that point I was fully dressed!) There was a 3 lb difference - clothes, I'm sure.
When I got the report of the physical, the person manually entering the numbers had transposed the last two digits, giving me a weight 20+ lbs heavier than my actual weight. As a result, the BMI in the report was also off, etc. I've been trying to get this corrected for over 2 months now, as this was in my actual physical! And I even dropped off a copy of my Fitbit (Aria) weight data.

I agree with you EdinburgLass. If people cheat it is their ownselves they are hurting! Why should the rest of us, who are honest, have to buy more products to qualify for encouragement? I paid 100 dollars for this fitbit, isnt' that enough? I am sure most of us already have scales and shoudn't have to buy a special data synching scale.

A wee bit off the topic, but where do you live now Edinburghlass? I'm originally from Falkirk, but live in Utah, USA right now.
I think (hope hope hope) I'm getting an aria scale for my Christmas, as like you, I find the badges motivating. I agree with whoever said it before... I give you a verbal badge for your acheivements so far
Cheers,

...and the flip side is that when you lose weight you lose the badgering of those around you! Your secret badge.
