What in the world do you have to do to get a weight loss badge?

ANSWERED

I lost 25 pounds and got nothing.  I lost 25% of my weight to my goal weight and nothing.  I went officially from obese to overweight and got BMI down to 29 and nothing!  This is frustrating and not very motivating that they do not seem to award you for weight loss progress.  At least at Weight Watchers they gave you something every 5%.  Has any one gotten a badge?

Wait!!! Yes they have changed it! Thanks Fitbit!! I just tried it and put in that I'd lost 15lb and it gave me a badge 🙂 now I need to reset it and put it back to my original weight but it's definitely giving badges and I don't have a fancy pants scale 🙂

I got badges for 5, 10, 15, 20, 30 (lifetime), and goal met.  Did you actually set a goal on the dashboard or just have a personal goal in mind?  That's the only thing I can think of - it doesn't know if weight change is good without a goal.  (Some people have a goal of gaining weight; it distributes badges for that too.)

If you had a goal set and don't see the badges on your weight page, I suggest opening a support ticket.  They would be able to see if there was a glitch.

Do you have the Fitbit scale? I logged weight faithfully for a couple of months thinking that I might get a badge (since it says you just have to track your weight to earn them) and then realized that you can only earn a badge if you buy the Aria scale from Fitbit.

Best Answer

Congratulations on your weight loss @rgbgeorgia! Fitbit badges for weight loss are awarded to Aria Users only.

If you have a tracker paired, but no scale; no badges will be awarded but your weight loss tile on the dashboard will display your improvement. Cat Happy

Fitbit weight loss badges are also awarded to connected Withings scale users when synched with your Fitbit account.

Have you looked for your answer in the Surge product manual? RTFM!

How does TFM of the Surge relate to badges?

Best Answer

It doesn't. That's in my signature - note the line separating that from the body of my message, which does pertain to the posted question and expands upon the answer given by the moderator.

I most frequently post on the Surge forum, which is why those two lines are in my signature file. 90%+ of the questions posted on that forum are addressed in the manual. For some reason, many people haven't downloaded or read the manual, so I provide a link to that as well as the helpful Read Me First/FAQ post on that forum.

As for me, I am so happy with my loss of weight. Going from 270 to 208 in just  a few months is a big milestone for me. Getting rid of my size 48 pants and getting size 38 pants, getting rid of my XX Large Shirts down to Large are my Badges. I could care less about Fitbit badges because I am wearing mine as I sit here typing this to you. Those are my rewards. I still have 39 pounds to go but I am so happy right now.

Bizarre, I got my first weight loss badge today but don't have the Aria scales. I do have scales that measure body fat, water % and all that.

Is this a bug or is it because once in a while I do actually use the scales for body fat % and enter that into the app maybe once a fortnight.

Did they change this? I accidentally had my weight logged as 100lbs more than I am so I changed it today (7/16/15) and was granted 3 weight loss badges for 5, 10, & 15 lbs. Please tell me this ISN'T a fluke and they are giving out these badges whether or not you have that fancy scale!!

That's weird.  I've lost 35 pounds and have gotten a weight loss badge at every 5 lb loss.

I hope they are giving weight loss badges to those without an Aria scale. That would be fab. I have a star chart on my fridge. Just got some sticky stars from Amazon and award myself a star for each pound. When I reach 7 stars I start a new line so I can easily see how many half stones I have achieved x

Do you have the aria scale or are you inputting the weight manually? Hope they've changed their system and are awarding weight loss badges to everyone x

Thanks! That's great.  I'm looking forward to my next weigh in! (It's a little sad that virtual badges excite me -- but they do!)

I get excited too! You've gotta have something to celebrate the small goals...especially when you have lots to lose and it feels such a long way

I just got my first weight badge for losing 20lbs!  It is 15 pounds off the 35 pounds I have lost as of today but hey I am just glad to finally get one.  Still just logging in manually so glad they changed the policy.

Weighed in today and I've been given all of my badges now!!  Thanks fitbit for finally giving the badges to those of us without the fancy scales. 🙂
