What activities have you supplemented your walking with in order to get results? How much do you exercise? How often?
I am curious because I have tried different things and have not found something I "love". My running days are over due to knee injuries, so I need something low impact that will help me lose my 50+ pounds. My goal is to have it off by next April, so I have 7 months to do it.
Suggestions??

Low impact:
To increase my steps and overall heath I've requested a stand up workstation vs. sitting down at my desk. I feel full of energy and find that I prefer to stand more often then not. I do have the option to adjust the stand to a sitting position if and when needed. I also find that I'm using standing poses learned in Yoga (Mountain pose, adjusted tree pose, standing crescent pose or simply flexing my knee). Let's see how this works out.

You need some kind of strenght training as well as your walking.

Hi, Phyllis. I've lost 80 pounds and would like to lose about 10 more. In addition to walking I have about 30 exercise DVDs. My favorite is step aerobics. I do 30 to 45 minutes of aerobics five times a week and strength training two to three times a week. I get most of my DVDs from www.collagevideo.com. Hope this helps and good luck to you.

I'm an Alaskan and I use my PFD dividend (yay) to pay for a personal trainer at my gym. You don't actually need a trainer but I find she keeps things changed up enough to both keep it interesting, keep me from injury and keep me going to my goal. Weight training is definitely a win, even if it doesn't count toward steps, because you build muscle and core strength which help with weight loss as well as overall ability, agility and strength. It's something to consider and I absolutely love it!
