I'm new to the fitbit community, and already completely in love with all the features. I've noticed that simply keeping track of what i eat has made me eat better foods, smaller portions, and fewer calories overall. My small weight loss has been a result of a foods only change, and i'd like to speed up the process with excercise.
i'm 23, i teach dance classes 4 nights a week, and i work a full time job. by the time i have a free hour to work out, i'm completely exhausted.
I need help to get myself into gear with excercising in addition to my new healthier eating habits, but just can't find the motivation after i get off work, or home from dance class. Help!!

Personally, if I were in your shoes, I would consider the the 4-weekly dance classes more than enough. Just out of curiosity, what's the duration of each class?
I think that you also have to be careful to maintain a healthy balance between your food intake and your energy needs.
I don't know how flexible your dance lesson scenario is, but one way of doing of boosting your metabolism is to drop one of those classes; and fill that time with a strength training workout. I like resistance bands, not the tubes, but the elastic type like the Thera-bands. I use them three or four times a week, with the handles that I bought separately; with some dumbbell workouts in between. That would complement your cardio activities (dance classes) nicely. You see, the burn from cardio is immediate; the burn from weight training will increase your metabolism for the balance of the day.
Hope this helps. Have a great day.

Hi @KatDavid2014 . I was thinking a similar thing as @TandemWalker , that if you want to fit an extra workout in, then lift some weights. After one of the dance classes you should be all warmed up and see if you can capitalize on that once or twice a week and pump some iron. This will help you build muscle, which will in turn burn more calories and make you look awesome in the process. Good luck!

You guys are awesome.
Somehow I didn't even THINK of weight training. I get tunnel vision when it comes to cardio, thinking it's the most effective way to burn calories and fat. It is in the moment, but not for the long-term burn.
Thank you!

Right on! Too much of one or the other is probably not good, but a balanced approach with a bit of both will work its magic. Don't jump too fast with weight training - start slow and gradually progress from there. Light weights for toning and burning; heavier weights for bulk (and burning.) Cheers!

Kat You are already doing it! Teaching dance you are demonstrating and moving I assume.
Maybe add more dance on your days off to burn calories. Off to go ballroom dancing now.
I agree that tracking the food is eye opening and has led to smaller portions and more mindful eating. I love the heart rate check as well so I can click on my Charge HR button and see if I'm getting enough cardio.
