Hello,
I had Weight Loss Surgery 1/27/2014 and lost 32 lbs but I still need to lose 52 lbs. I have been on a stall for the last 2 weeks so I made the purchase of the Flex and I LOVE IT.
I have increased my steps and have surpassed the 10,000 mark a few times....gosh who knew I would enjoy walking as much as I do now. I am motivated to get up at 4AM to do my excercise before going to work and then again when I get home. I get a thrill watching the dashboard move those numbers in my favor!
If anyone would like to be an accountability partner send me a message!! I am a bit competitive and I didn't know that until I got the Flex....challenging my sisters who made a purchase of the Flex...can't wait until they get theirs so I can kick butt! 🙂

Gigi,
Which surgery did you have?
I had gastric bypass on Dec 31, 2013 and so far have lost 60 pounds. We are both new to this journey, but feel free to ask me anything! I hope the best for you.

Hi Gigi,
I had a Roux-en-Y gastric bypass back in October 2013 and I'm down about 100lbs so far. I've hit a couple of plateaus so far, but nothing that has lasted more than a week.

I had gastric sleeve in November of 2013. I have lost 227 lbs. to date and I am working hard to keep it off. What I found so scary is that so many family members have mine have had surgery and have begun gaining their weight back. So, I actually keep a picture of me in my hospital gown before surgery to remind me of what I do not want to go back to. Gotta stay driven

I went for gastric bypass but had to switch to gastric sleeve during surgery because intestine was too short to connect. Surgery date was 1/27/14. Glad I had a backup plan with doc. I'm down 65 pounds with 160 to go. I won my Fitbit One at a health fair at work 3 years ago & put it in a drawer till about 6 months ago. Since surgery I've been wearing it. But about 3 weeks ago I hit a plateau & decided to get after the walking & increase my protein shakes. It broke the plateau & I've gotten 10K steps a couple times. I feel so much better. Off most meds. Not diabetic anymore. I would do the surgery again in a heartbeat.

I had roux-en-y in February. I'm down 65 lbs so far. I have about 80 I'd like to lose. I love my fitbit! It really helps to keep me motivated and on track. I'm not as good about recording my meals though since I tend to eat very little. The only thing that kind of bugs me is nearly constant nausea. Supposedly that will fade over time. How are you all using your fitbit since surgery?

You might want to check with your surgeon regarding the nausea. I had my gastric bypass in October 2013 and ended up needing my gallbladder removed in February 2014. I too was having nausea and some moderate to intense upper right quadrant abdominal pain before going to see the doc and getting the ultrasound on my gallbladder.

Hi Gigi, I am waiting to have my gastric sleeve surgery schedule and I just bought the Fitbit so I can get used to keeping track of things. How are you doing now and did you have the sleeve done or the bypass? I'm gonna need help with all of this and motivation so if you are still interested in a buddy please let me know.
Thanks,
Lynne

Hi to you all!
I had the gastric sleeve done Dec.27th 2014. I was a revision from the band. That thing was HELL!!! But doing better now. I am done 20lbs. I am at a stall now for 3 weeks the scale is not moving so I bought the fit bit in hopes with tracking and walking I can break this thing! I have 40 lbs still to lose. Thanks for all of your post. It is very inspiring.

Dear fellow Fit Biters
I am scheduled to have a Gastric Bypass on July 7th and I must say I am very excited. I have never been slim so the idea is very exciting. But, I am also scared to death. Not of the surgery, but of the risk of failure like so many times before. I find all of your posts encouraging and I plan to check back regularly.
Thanks Kelly

Afternoon, all!
I had gastric sleeve surgery on June 19th, 2012, and lost a total of 160 pounds in the first 10 months post-surgery. In the past 2 years I've regained about 30 pounds....I got back in the habit of eating simple carbs, and gave up on my daily gym routine. Bad plan!! In the past month or so I've cut carbs from my life again, and have joined the local Y...and bought my first fitbit Charge!! I've lost 10 pounds of my regain, and am regularly hitting 10,000+ steps every day, along with spending an hour at the gym 5-6 days a week (30 minutes of elliptical and 30 minutes of recumbant bike, plus an occassional water aerobics class).
I had to return the first fitbit charge I bought (yesterday) after less than 24 hours...it totally fritzed out for no reason. I'm charging the replacement now, and hopefully will have better luck with this one...cuz I really loved having the little gadget on my arm as a constant reminder to get up off my fanny!! 🙂
