calorie count not right

I have just started using the zip and It says I have taken 120 steps and burned 503 calories! What could be wrong with this thing?

Basically, you are given extra calories through the day based on you BMR. This is why you wake up and your fitbit says you've already burned some calories. You burned those while sleeping.
