Newbie question but when I put in all my stats and my goal to lose weight is my fitbit already cutting my calories to have me lose? e.g if it says my calorie goal for the day is 1600 is that already reduced calories to make me lose weight or should i be trying to cut more?

Your chosen deficit is included in the calorie goal. So, if it says you can 1600 then you can eat all 1600 of them (and enjoy every one!)
