I was looking at some posts about that in the group that I am in and I know you have to go about it in a different way 🙂 You can always find a work-around.

Hey Melidev9, I also have issue with my thyroid, have been taking medication to keep it in check for a few years now. I have found i need to be cosistently active if i want to lose any weight at all. I find if i am moderatly active I can maintain my weight but if I fall into a rut I gain weight like crazy. I recently had a death in the family and between dealing with that personally and my thyroid i put on 15 pound in 4-5 months.
I have decided that I am going to take back control of my weight and am going to use the fitbit to do so!
If you want you can add me as a friend and we can work through our weight / thyroid issues together.
If not I wish you all the best in your journey, and remember celebreate all the victories in the minor ones, and put any defeats behind you.
Have a great day, Keep fitibiting!

Yes!!! I completely understand the frustration. I work out 4-6 times a week (zumba, strength train, etc) and for the most part eat healthy yet it takes me forever to even lose a pound. I'm told this likely is because I'm hypothyroid. I take Armour for treatment, but haven't seen any improvement. I try to focus on the fact that I am becoming more fit even though the pounds aren't coming off. I'm hoping my patience will pay off in the long run if I just keep on trying.

I actually have hypothyroidism - on levothyroxine, well controlled - and I don't have any problems losing weight (beyond my own self sabotaging behavior of eating off diet etc). Realistically, as long as I am on meds and my labs are at goal, my ability to gain/lose weight should be what it was in the absence of a thyroid problem.
long and the short of it, I have to make healthy eating choices, watch my portions, and exercise like most 38 year old women have to do!!
Keep working the lifestyle changes and the weight will come off!!

I have way underactive thyrioid, my replacement amount is way over the average maximum for people. While it is undercontrol, I remain underactive as it is hard to balance it completely to normal and it is supposed to be better to be a bit under then a bit over, however it makes it hard to loose weight. To loose weight I need to walk 20,000 steps a day in addition to my regular activity. I watch what I eat but I don't count calories. It isn't easy for sure but it can be done....just keep walking and moving, it will help, you just may loose it slower then average.....
As well I do weigh myself everyday and I look more at the monthly trend rather then the daily one.

I have Hypothyroidism....yes it is possible to loss weight...bud it is harder.I was diagnosed 19 years ago.
I weighed 201 at my heaviest.I lost 46 lbs over all over 19 years.I have 5-15lbs that I regain and lose every year. I find that if I follow a low carb diet I can lose weight.Try to get 10,000 steps in a day and watch your carb intake...get your meds in check...You can do it!

Hi Everyone,
I have been hypothyroid for 4 yrs. Before being diagnosed I gained 40lbs then some extra. Finally affetr different verviosn & doses of thyroid meds, I found one that works fo me and is its helping my symptoms (Armour). I joined weight watchers last year and Ive lost 50 lbs so far! I got the Fitbit for myself for Christmas as a new way to motivate me to keep moving. I love it! Some of my frinds have them too and we've become very competive about logging those steps.....Good luck to you and stay positive..

I am hypothroid as well and am having the same issue. I stay within 1200 calories a day, I work out 4-5 times per week from Spinning, to kettlebell kickboxing, walking, 60 plan, regualy kickboxing, strength training. I have not seen one lb gone, I have seen the scale go up 3 lbs down to 5 lbs up, to 7 lbs up to 4 down. its a constant struggle. I take medication for my thyroid I also see an endocrinologist who I see every 3 months. Pending blood work of course. I try my hardest as well to keep positive and try and say at leat I'll be healthy, but if your dr's are telling you you really need to get this weight off, well I'm trying to and its not coming off what do you want me to. It is soooo frustrating, and yes I eat whole grains, low carbs, green veggies, lean meats I have bowls with measuring tools inside them, I bought plate divder to insure that I actually am having the correct portion sizes. weight has been a struggle all my life I hate it!!! I try not to give up some days though is tougher then others.

I am also hypothyroid and have been for 18 years now. I had to learn to control my eating by getting off of caffeine and junk food that has absolutely no protein. Make sure if you have caffeine or milk (or any other calcium source) you wait 4 full hours from taking your meds before you have these. Many things can interfere with med absorption and these are the two biggies. Also, prednisone is a killer in the weight gain department. Between sinus infections, poison ivy, and cancer, steroids have kept me alive, but not so great on the weight. My doc told me that unless I eat rabbit food, I'll have weight issues due to the All American diet. Watch the salt, too. Tons and tons of water I hear is key. One rule of thumb I heard is to drink half your weight in ounces of water. So, being 150, I need 75 oz of water daily.

I to have the same issues, I train hard 4 times a week, very active, look after my diet, very heatlthy eating yet can't loose a pound. I am told I still have calories to eat.
I am beginning to think I have bought a glorified step counter?

I'd recommend looking into how you're exercising to start budging pounds. There's many things you can do to lower your pounds and fat percentage. Walking, jogging, running are good ones.
But for real competition to lower the pounds, I'd recommend searching for cardio classes, interval training, High Intensity Interval Training workout videos. Some come with modifier exercises if it's too much or you need to take it light. One I'd recommend is searching Insanity Max 30. It comes with modifier HIIT and it's all body weight training for only 30 minute exercising.
