Hi,
I have struggled with my weight and food issues my entire life. I have tried every diet and food plan. I actually like exercise and being outside and active. But my "go-to" coping mechanism is food. Especially when I am feeling stressed or overwhelmed, I turn to food. I am a sugar addict too...so I use sweets to comfort myself. I have had success at different times in my life with managing my food better - eating healthier. I am not at my highest weight right now, but I do have 60 lbs to lose. I want to get to my goal weight in 2016. To do that, I need to consistently stick to my food plan and walk past the sweet treats. I'll also have to keep practicing other options when I'm stressed - like taking a walk and drinking water.
I thought I would post a message to try to find a group of people who might struggle with the same thing and want to create a group for support.
Thanks,
Wendy

I use food as a comfort as well.
I used to be really good at controlling it - I kept myself busy with hobbies and such. I have slipped over the last three years because I've been travelling but in 2016, I'm planning to get myself on track.
Feel free to add me - I'd love to be accountable to someone. I have a mfp account as well...

I also struggle with the same issues. It seems like every time I finally get control something always sets me back and the bad eating habits start all over again. The endless cycle.
I recently had a couple of kidney stones that were causing alot of pain in my back so I wasn't able to exercise and eat the healthy foods that help me lose weight.
The stones were removed last week and I feel so much better mentally and physically, of course I am very overweight but I am ready for 2016 to be the year that I shed all the extra weight once and for all.
You may add me too if you would like : )

I am also an emotional eater AND I have a tendancy to be a midnight grazer. I don't sleep well and I have trained myself to eat whenever I wake up at night. I am new to this fitbit thing as of today, so please feel free to add me as a support, I could use support as well.

Kiersa, to add a friend, you click on their name on the left side of the comment, then click on "go to their profile" then click on the button that says "add as a friend."
Hope this is helpful. I'm new to this fitbit as well! 🙂

Kiersa,
are you asking about adding the group we're making or this dialogue forum here?
Just a bit confused.

Hi Wenderwoman,
I'm in the same situation as you, with around 60lbs to loose this year. Super idea to start a group - let's get the ball rolling together!

I end up eating for fun sometimes. Even though I'm not hungry. But as long as I control it like limiting how much alcohol (mega carbs) and sweets I consume. Including how many eggs I eat for snacking.

I've been coming to terms with my relationship with food. It's so crazy to me sometimes when my mind wants my body to eat terrible, so the rest of me will feel terrible too. I've been trying to stay conscious of my eating habits, so I can get some of the weight off of my new knee. But the accountability is hard to maintain when you live by yourself.

I literally struggle with the same thing. I have 40lbs to lose. I really hope that by now you have reached your goal. I can share with you what i have learned so far. The biggest thing is not giving up. Its easy to give into the endorphin high you get from carb loading. I am a bread lover. But instead find a healthy sweet. I've recently swapped my chocolate craving for a healthier version of a chocolate muffin made with apple sauce and Greek yogurt, for example. Or changing candy out for dates or cooked fruits with a little cane sugar on the top. It's gonna be hard but the goal is only around the corner. I'm two pounds down. Hopefully this helps.
