go and buy a glucose meter from walmart or your local pharmacy.  the pharmacist can show you how to use it.

Your nearest pharmacy can hook you up with either a meter that requires a drop of blood, or some clinistix if you want to measure glucose levels in your urine.  Both are cheap to buy.

Without a prescription, those frigging test strips are expensive though.  The tester is only about 19.00, but the test strips will cost you over $100 a month.  It took me aobut 5 years or more to discover that I could get a prescription for diabetic supplies. I couldn't believe it.  Doctors don't particularly look out for us all that well.  I guess they have money to burn, so why mention test strips as a prescription?

What kind are they and what meter do they work with?  Frankly, I just hate the generic syringe needles there.

i believe it's the Relion brand strips and meter.  the meter is about $16.  they're pretty good from what i've heard.
