how to read calories in and out tile

ANSWERED

Hi, I'm new to all of this. I just got my fitbit zip 3 weeks ago. Can anyone help me understand the calories in vs. out tile? For example, it is after midnight and when I synced my fitbit, it registers "over" on that tile even though I haven't eaten anything. What's up with that? I'm so confused. Thanks!

I find that graph of calories in/out is inconsistent. The data will almost always be different on the website & device which was causing me the same confusion. What I do now is I make sure I'm on the goal for calorie deficit on my phone app (e.g. maintain a 750 cal deficit according to my selected plan).  Usually the website is off for me, not sure why but I keep my focus on the app since that's always at my reach to keep track.

The Calories In vs Out tile is a real time representation of your caloric goals.  For example let's say your BMR is 2400 calories/day.  Now at 1am the tile will say 0 calories in (if you haven't eaten anything) and 100 calories out but still show over.  It does this because the calories in (0) plus your caloric deficit is greater than 100 calories burned currently.  It will adjust throughout the day.
