looking for friends - 50s and female and getting fabulous!

Hi!  I'm looking for some friends for motivation and support.  I'm 51, female, and working on losing 30 lbs.  My A1c is pre-diabetic so I'm shedding some weight to try and get it under control.

Anyone?

Add me in this group as well. 50 and attempting to get fit. My husband just got this fitbit a week or so ago. He's obsessed with his numbers. Now the dog sees the leash and you can see the resignation in his eyes. "ANOTHER walk? You people are nuts."

I had back surgery (two severly herniated discs) last year and I've gained 30 pounds.  It's killing me. The steroids are horrible and it doesn't matter what I do, I can't seem to even lose a pound.  I'm doing the 10,000 steps a day and going 500 calories under the number allowed on my dashboard.  I'm 53 and don't sleep for beans. I wonder if that is part of the problem.  (You would think a hot flashes and night sweats would burn more calories!!)

You have to be very careful with your metabolism.  If your metabolism is messed up, it will not matter if you do 20 Steps a day.  You should log what you eat, and check it out to make sure you are getting enough of what you need to be successful.

I log everything I eat and I weigh everything to the ounce.  I don't eat anything that isn't a singular ingredient so that I can make sure that there isn't a calorie I'm not counting.  I hit at a mininum the 10,000 steps a day and eat less than the FitBit recommended calories.  It's a little frustrating.

I went through most of menopause early.  OMG the night sweats! The hot flashes! Both of those should burn 10,000 calories a piece. I am so glad that part's over. Now I just have to lose the weight.

Just track calories and move as much as you can. Even if you lie in bed and do light arm weights. I uped my water big time. I hated water (weird but true) now I keep a pitcher with water and lemon and ginger. I scrape of ginger then drop the root. When it gets too weak, about 2 days I start over. I need to lose 30 more and it was sooo discouraging, when you get close to your goal it's harder but I am about to post on that topic so look out for it. 🙂

Thisis what I'm doing:

I've been walking since I got my fitbit zip in March of this year. I was walking between 10k-20k, everyday. I got serious in October about losing this weight. So far I have lost 25 lbs, as of today. I cut processed foods and sugar out immediately and upped my water. I track everything on my phone and computer. I am eating protein, fruit and veggies.

As for walking, I am walking 20k+ steps every day, I am walking 8-9 miles per day. But I've changed how I walk. I've increased my active minutes to 110-140. I am trying to keep about 1000 calories left/under budget.

You can walk all you want, but if you are not sweating, somewhat out of breath, and being careful what you eat....... you will not lose the weight.  Smiley Happy

I am 53 year old, almost 54, have three children and two grandchildren, and use walking as my main exercise.  But I do like to ride my bike, and am slowly getting into running.

I'm 48, but I would like to get in on this too.  I work out at Koko Fit Club and want to lose 40 pounds.  So far, I have lost 4.  🙂  Slow and steady wins the race.

Hello, I'm 47 can I join too? I've lost about 20 pounds over the last 2 years cycling I got addicted to it quickly.  Now I need to get more off as I'm getting married in April and need to fit into the dress I've ordered.

How're you doing Mickey?

Hope you're still walking and ready for the coming fall/winter!  I decided to take my dogs for a walk after dark last week-it was such a calm night, quiet and very nice.  I've decided to continue to walk them after dark now because I really enjoy it much more than day walking (and plus I have no choice with DST, it's dark when I get home from work).

Hi, I love to walk in the mornings just as the sun is coming up, I always take my dogs but as they are getting older now I usually take them for their walk walk 5 minutes around the cul-de-sac and then go for my 45 minute walk after I take them home.

Over 50... 52 to be exact. 🙂 I started a year ago... did real well. Took a break (always a mistake) and gained another 10 pounds from my starting weight over a year ago. The only good in the break was I stopped smoking. (another weight gainer)  I am back walking and need female friends to keep me motivated. My friends that I had before are no longer logging. Please add me so my friend bar in my dashboard is full 🙂

I am 51 and in need to lose over 50 pounds.  I have had my fitbit for just over a month and it has motivated me to start walking more.  I struggle with accountability and could use the support of others who are walking along the same path.

I love FitBit, it motivated me. I have 50 to lose too! I got it in June. I walked EVERY day, ate 1,000 or less did arm weights while I walked. June, July, Aug, Sept and Oct went by and I lost FOUR! I was so angry. Went to the dr. since I'm 47 I thought there was something off with me. On Nov 1 I started the HCG diet plus the exercise I was doing and as of today, the 11th I am down 10pds! I could not be happier, hallelujah! I am not a sales person or pushing anything what so ever I am just sharing what work for ME. My body is SO stubborn that I need a little extra push. FitBit helps a lot though in tracking food, calories. Good luck 🙂

Hi all! Hope I'm posting this correctly! I'm 53, my FB was waiting for me when I returned from a trip tonight. So, I've had it less than an hour. My weight has been slowly creeping up. Yikes! Ready to let go of these 15 - 20 pounds before they become more. Happy to be in this community with all of you! Cheers!
