looking for friends - 50s and female and getting fabulous!

Hi!  I'm looking for some friends for motivation and support.  I'm 51, female, and working on losing 30 lbs.  My A1c is pre-diabetic so I'm shedding some weight to try and get it under control.

Anyone?

May I joing your group?  I turned 60 and got my fitbit as a birthday gift.  So far, so good.  My husband is on a Weight Watchers at work program so I am trying to support him by following their guidelines.  I need to lose 50 pounds but I'm focused on the next 5 right now.

Hi there,

I am 58 y.o. female. On this journey for 8 weeks. Lost 6 lbs.  I want to eat healthier and lose weight and get fit. I have a sedentary job and struggle to get steps in.  Eating healthier is way easier for me than exercise.

I like tips and tricks and sharing sucess stories and struggles. Glad that I found this dicussion. Any tips are appreciated.

Hi can really relate to the challenges of a sedentary job.  If I didn't answer the call the nature, I would be sitting at my desk for 7 hours straight.  Now I force myself to get up and at least walk around the office every hour.  Even by consciously using our treadmill, it is hard to get in 10,000 steps in a day.  If the weather ever warms up, I'll made a point of walking at lunchtime.  If I am watching tv in the evening, I try to get up and walk whenever there is a commercial on.

Walk on the spot during commercials or the news that helps rack up the steps

Try green tea.  Brew it in your coffee maker and drink hot or iced.  I has really helped me get more "water" into my day.

I sit on a exercise ball for 8 hrs a day.  It will help build your bodies core as well as giving you more movement.  It doesn't count for steps but it is better than just sitting all day.

Get up 10 minutes earlier for the first week, 15 minutes for the second and 20 minutes the third.  You gradually get used to it.  10-20 minutes each day adds up.  I start my day on the treadmill.

I started my weight loss January 5 and have lost 17 lbs.  I have 32 more to go!  Changed eating habits and exercise.  I used the Dr Phill 20/20 diet including cleaning my envoroment, shopping from his grocery list, setting goals as well as writting them down and reviewing them often.

I'd love to have some fitbit friends if anyone wants to friend me.  We're currently doing a step challenge at work, but it's about to end.  I'd like to keep up the motivation.  I'm 53 and in the KC area.  I'd like to lose about 50 lbs, so it will be a slow process!
