looking for friends - 50s and female and getting fabulous!

Hi!  I'm looking for some friends for motivation and support.  I'm 51, female, and working on losing 30 lbs.  My A1c is pre-diabetic so I'm shedding some weight to try and get it under control.

Anyone?

I totally agree slow and steady but I don't agree with 1-2 pounds a month, you can do that in a week if you stick to a brand new life style of eating right, exercise and drinking plenty of water

I'm a newbie just got my Fitbit. Lost 62 pounds on WW and want to lose the last 20. Need to get demotivated to move. Kept my weight off for 5 years, but gained 10 pounds over the last year due to stress eating. Need a buddy too

I am putting my firbit on tomorrow before work and see how much I really need to step it up....I want to lose 30 lbs..

I bought a fitbit in order to calculate the number of calories burned during one hour of zumba, I wore it only one time because at  5'5", 220lbs, 55 years old the monitor indicated some 1024 calories burned in that one hour, could that be correct? I am wearing it to zumba again tonight to see if it is about the same. Just seemed like a lot of calories burned but I wasn't sure if everytime I wear it, does the monitor start counting from the last sync or a new count?

Everyday I do get my steps in. Either 10,000 a day or more, which I am Happy about. My issue is FOOD. I am active all day due to my job and living on a farm. I do great watching what I eat throughout the day, but as soon as night time arrives and I start watching a tv show.....I need to munch! That is where I lose my willpower! I would LOVE to lose 20-25 lbs. by August. The rate I am going is NOT good. Anyone else have that issue? I need a kick in the can.......

Hi 62karen, I found that a large cup of herbal tea with a small amount of honey (very little) will keep me happy and away from the snacks. Also jello cups or pudding will do. I make the cook and serve pudding, fat free w skim milk. I also love to crochet so I try to do this while watching TV keeps my hands busy. You could paint your nails thus preventing snacking. Good luck!

Feel free to add me as Friend. I started with Fitbit around Christmas. Original Weight was 270. Now I weigh 218. It's not gonna be an easy ride. I get very hungry sometimes and I have to try to short circuit my hunger. Let me know how I can be of help.

I have been using the Fitbit and walking on average 8000 steps but have not lost anything.  On May 1, I am going to start the 21 day Fix program.  Anyone else on the program or tried it?  Any tips are welcome.  I am trying to lose 30 pounds.

It monitors all your steps and sometimes adds steps when you are driving. I try to drive without the wrist with the Fitbit on it. It starts at midnight and and ends at midnight.  It monitors sleep too. I take Zumba and an hour is about 3000 steps. I am 5'7" and 142 lbs so I'm sure that I never get that many calories burned in one class.  Try wearing it all day and evening and see how many total cals. burned.

Love dancing the lbs. away.

Hi Billie and Bev

It is nice to get support here and see people progress toward their goals.

Burn more than you eat and you will usually lose weight. Tracking the food is eye opening. Figure out how to deal with stress without stuffing it down with food. Exercise, music, friends, hot bath, walks in nature and positive self talk all work as well as meditation, drawing, crafts, puzzles, some TV, etc.. Find your stress relievers and use them.

Best of luck,

Barbara G

But why do u need to munch when watching TV? Anxiety? What are you watching ?  Spend some time figuring out what is causing the munching out drive.

Give yourself a big drink of water and figure out how many hours since dinner.  If it is 3 or more consciously decide what is wholesome and filling yet low cal.  I let myself have some low fat greek yogurt and I add frozen blueberries. Sometimes I give myself 2 cups of veggies only 80 cals.

I know it is hard to stop the impulse but try writing out what you are feeling, worried about or really want that is not food.

Good luck,

Barbara

I've had the fitbit about a year and have had varied success with my motivation. I'll track myself for a few months and then slack off but I've had no group or support. I'm finding this weight loss journey to be sooo much harder now at this age. It seems like this used to so much easier both from the standpoint of energy level and my personal focus. I have started taking some amino acid supplements that have helped my cravings immensley! So food is not as big a battle. It is my patience with the process  and time constrainsts that are the biggest challenge for me.
