Hi! I'm looking for some friends for motivation and support. I'm 51, female, and working on losing 30 lbs. My A1c is pre-diabetic so I'm shedding some weight to try and get it under control.
Anyone?

Hi! (I don't see a name) What is Thrive? Maybe I had better look it up on line. If it's to help you lose weight I might join you. I'm trying to lean toward Paleo, but not entirely.
I'm doing Insanity workout with Shawn T; it's a DVD workout. I do that a couple times a week. I run 1.1 miles every day with my dog. She is too active and needs a little workout every morning. Then we walk a mile in the afternoon, when I get home.
I need to lose 20 more pounds but I'm not too worried about it not. It will happen in time. I have my diet figured out.
But this summer I'm doing a triathlon. I'm just going for the finish. It's a 5.82 mile run, 12.5 mile bike and a 6.35 mile kayak. It's in Sacramento, CA.

Hello Annie...I am turning 50 this summer and also need to loose some serious weight. My fitbit is really helping. I have lost 30 pounds since September...seem to loose around 5 pounds steadily then plateau for a week or two then loose another 5. I am trying to go with the flow and be happy with my success and not get discouraged when I don't loose as consistently. Logging your food for every meal really helps on the front end. If nothing else it makes you aware of your calories in verses calories out.
Emotionally eating and eating becuase I was bored have been the reasons I have put on so much weight over the years. Once you get to the point where you are eating more protein and veggies...your body does not crave junk food as much as it used to. I am eating pretty healthy these days but still allow myself the occasional treats...I just walk a bit more that day.
Good luck to you....you can do it! Just meet your daily step goals...log your food and be kind to yourself...take care...MareWalks

I would also love to join the group. I am 51 years old, and have been doing weight watchers for over a year, and just can't keep on track with it, meaning, not losing, and very depressing. I have roughly about 60 pounds to lose and I just got my fitbit this past Friday and it has gotten me wanting to make my steps, which I have only done once since Friday, but not giving up.

Hi Renee, Great to have you! I think you are in good company; I think we all have trouble getting out there from time to time. I'm pretty lucky, I have great weather year around. I'm 62 and still working but I'm also starting my bucket list. The first thing on my list was get into shape. I'm not good at telling myself no when it comes to goodies, so it has been difficult. Just know, Renee that it will happen if you keep trying. Don't ever give up! If you eat more than you should have or don't exercise like you wanted to, know that there is tomorrow. Do your best not to gain any weight back. I know, from experience that that is very difficult, but it's easier if you don't have to lose the same weight over and over! And as you go your stomach will get smaller and you won't want to eat as much.
I started at a walk, one block, with my little dog, twice every day. And now we are jogging a mile in the morning and walking the mile every evening.
I would like you to find something that you want to achieve, with your smaller body. Give yourself enough time to achieve your goal; but maybe go to an amusement park where you can ride all the rides and wear your cute, smaller clothes; something like that. That will help you lose, stick with it and get to the goal.
I chose to run a triathlon! Pretty crazy for a 62 year old woman to start running races. But I am going to do Eppies Great Race (.org) this coming July 18th. This year I'm just going to try and finish. Next year I will try and set some records! (records for me).
Good luck and Do your best everyday!
Barbara
