Hi! I'm looking for some friends for motivation and support. I'm 51, female, and working on losing 30 lbs. My A1c is pre-diabetic so I'm shedding some weight to try and get it under control.
Anyone?

Hi all, I'm 58 and just got my FitBit last week. I love it! It's so motivating. I work full time so finding the time to even walk 8,000 steps per day is a challenge but I've been doing it.
In the 6 weeks or so before getting FitBit I lost 10 lbs. I want to lose another 5 - 10. The pace of losing has slowed as it always does.
My problem with weight has always been maintaining a weight rather than losing. Anyone have any tips for maintainging? Has FitBit helped? It seems like it would as long as you keep logging food.

I have followed the posts from the 50+ group and wanted to share good news that may encourage others as many of the posts have encouraged me. I am 56 year old female obese, hypertension and type 2 diabetic. Have gone up and down with weight since my 20's. It is never too late to invest in improving your health, Started with fitbit in June of this year. Had just gone to doctor with A1C of 9.9 (already on two medications). I began with goal of 7,000 steps a day and soon moved to 10,000 steps and the impact on my blood sugar control was dramatic. In a couple of weeks blood sugar dropped and became much more stable. My A1c is now 5.4 and I have dropped 40 pounds. In July I joined a gym, (first time in my life) and do strength training 4-5 times a week. I feel so energetic, Work full time and travel weekly. Hope when I visit doctor tomorrow I will be able to get off some of my medications. In addition to daily 10,000 steps I faithfully keep my food journal.

Hi,
I am 50, 100 lbs to lose, 6 back surgeries, 26 surgeries total, & type 2 Diabetic controlled currently by diet.I bought my Flex to help me track my activities and sleep on my journey to lose 100 more lbs. Already lost 17. I have a long journey and if I'm successful I will live long enough to achieve my goals. I am always looking to make new friends.

Hi Lisa, I'm dealing with similar issues - family history of heart disease, diabetes and weight. I've been pre-diabetic for a few years now. Got my FitBit in April and have lost 25lbs. since. Hopefully I'll see some positive results at my next physical.

Doctor took me off two of the three medications. My BP was much lower also and rest of my blood work looked really good. Walking the 10,000 steps daily seems to provide the best return for the effort. Many of my steps are achieved in just daily walking to copier etc, so it seems that even a couple of minutes at a time count as much (or nearly as much) as when I get on the treadmill for an hour.

mudpuppy that is GREAT! Your post is just what I needed to see today. I am 60 and just starting with fitbit. Never exercised in my life, I was always able to lose with just weight watchers. Now that isnt working for me so I need to move. I will start tomorrow and I am anxious to see just how many steps I can get. Thanks for the motivation.. I really need it!

Hi folks, 56 here (just had my birthday) and need to lose 35 pounds. 😞 Menopause destroyed me, I work out all the time and really do watch what I eat but.....the pounds creep up once you hit that reverse-puberty thing. :0 )
Love my fitbit....I'm really active anyway but I love tracking and also the sleep part.
