Hi! I'm looking for some friends for motivation and support. I'm 51, female, and working on losing 30 lbs. My A1c is pre-diabetic so I'm shedding some weight to try and get it under control.
Anyone?

This team looks like the perfect 'fit' for me (haha). I'm 56 y/o and need to loose 30#. I'm in Pearland, Texas (south of Houston). I just bought my fitbit Charge HR yesterday and still trying to figure out all the bells and whistles. It's a pleasure to meet you ladies.

Having a real problem in the evening when I finally sit down in front of tv. Wish I could stop craving sugary an salty foods. Any suggestions?

Hi Bella40, I'm the exact same way. I'm really fighting the evenings. I did find that if I eat about 10 of those little red hots that it burns my tastebuds off and I don't eat anything after that. But if you can eat redhots it's not going to work for you. I have heard that cinnamon has something it it to cut your munching.
Also try walking around during commercials (not to the kitchen). You will get steps and not snacks!
Good luck and if you find anything that helps you, let me know, too! I think it's a hard time for lots of us!
Barbara

I do drink a lot of warm water at work. Thanks, Ferro, I will try that at night too.

Hey Leisa!
I have had my fitbit just about a week now and am still in the learning curve mode 😉 Also in the South - N. Alabama just about smack dab between Nashville & Birmingham. I would love to get plugged into this community and have some friends to explore this adventure with - not yet sure how to do that completely but feel free to add me if you like! 😉

Hello Fabulous 50's Gals!
I am Leisha - known to many as Mama Leisha 😉 I turned 51 in October. I am a homeschool mom to my only - 14 year old man/child. I have a very full, blessed, and busy life in N. Alabama (20 year transplant from Canada) where I lead a moms ministry at our church home. I've had my fitbit about a week and am still in the 'learning curve' mode on many levels. My goals here are to improve my health, get rid of some weight, gain back some energy and connect with some ladies to enjoy the journey with along the way!
I would really love to get plugged into the challenges you ladies have mentioned - not sure how?....help! 😉

I love this post! Your brother, although challenged, has hit the nail on the head for weight loss! "Do your B's and exercise! So simple, yet so many excuses get in our way-work, cravings, fatigue,-you get the picture. Thanks so much for posting this.

Good to see some current postings here! The holiday season can be very trying for those trying to control their weight, right? I'm keeping my head in the right place most of the time, so far at least. I seem to do OK at family gatherings and stay in control -- but then later at home I've been known to binge on everyday food. Anyone else have this same issue? What's the answer?

Yes, the Christmas Holidays are really difficult! I have had several Christmas parties so far and the worst was a ladies tea at Church where all the food was homemade candies, cookies and other treats. It wasn't a good one for me to attend but I did and I tried to just eat a few of the favorite chocolate ones and I tried to walk a little extra. . . . at home I try to stick to soups, salads and hot oat meal after the parties and hopefully I can get by with fewer calories.
Good luck to everyone out there trying to get through this! If you gain a little just get it off as quickly as you can.

Would love to join you ladies. I am 48, and looking to drop 30lbs as well. I will certainly love the motivation and discussion.

Hi Everyone,
I'm at one of those bad spots; here it is Christmas and all those treats and partys! I have fallen off the wagon and been run over! I'm still trying and getting the exercise part done, getting my 10k steps in almost every day. But the food part for me, is totally out of control!
I had a little bit of a medical problem and couldn't jog or do bouncy exercises for 3 weeks and I put 5 pounds back on!
I heard on WebMD that once you've lost 5% to 10% of your weight, your body makes adjustments to fight losing any more. Hormones that signal you've had enough to eat don't get sent to your brain, and I'm still hungry. I don't really want to use medications to get that feeling of being full. I hate going to talk to my doctor because she is more overweight than I am! I'm always hungry!
Can anyone help me? Any incouraging words of wisdom? I really feel lost. And it Christmas time, all this food is not going away any time soon. And then I have the New Years party.
Barbara
