losing weight healthily while having an eating disorder

Hi! this is is my first time postin in this forum, I am a bit nervous, so please be gentle!

Anywho... here it goes!

I am 30 years old. I currently weigh 218lbs... High weight:323lbs, Low weight 205lbs (As an Adult)... I struggle with an eating disorder, more specifically, Bulimia Nervosa. I have been battling with an eating disorder since I was the age of 8 (Eating Disorder Otherwise Not Specified) and have been going to both pediatric (when I was a child) and an adult (who specializes in eating disorders) nutritionists on and off through out my life. Currently I see an amazing one through an outpatient nutrition clinic that only specializes and deals with individuals, male and female, children/adolescents/adults who are diagnosed and struggle with eating disorders. though they are helpful, I still cant seem to take off the pounds, despite having daily steps average about and over 13,000 a day... I also work out alot, and for the past week have been eating more food and not purging (though I still abuse laxatives)... for the past three weeks I have gained 12lbs, according to the scales at work and my discharge weight from inpatient hospitalization three weeks ago. I want to lose weight, but cant seem to do it. my nutritionist wants me to be patient, but i just keep gaining... last week I reached 224lbs and that scared me... i am now down to 218lbs...

Is there anyone here who have lost weight successfully while having a current or recovered eating disorder healthily...

oh, and i eat really healthy meals (except when I had to eat at the mall 3 days in a row, because my job, at the mall kept me longer and I had no food on me and didnt want to miss a meal or faint and get dizzy at work because i missed one)...

Welcome to the forums @hopeforthelost! I know that each story is different and I admire your determination to remain healthy despite this disorder. Cat Happy

From personal experience, I would recommend the following:

  1. Follow the plan you were given on your specialized clinic.
  2. Trust your Fitbit to help you on your walks and workouts.
  3. Reach out to NEDA and talk to one of their advocates, they are super friendly and understanding.
  4. If this is a binge-purge cycle, find the trigger for the binging. A great support group is OA, and they can help you find the causes and make peace with your triggers. Their sessions are eye-opening.
  5. Make your main goal to improve your health, not only reach out a certain number on the scale.
  6. Love, care and nurture your body! It's the only one you have. Smiley Happy

Keep in mind that gaining the weight took time, so losing it will take time and perseverance. Don't give up! Heart

thanks so much!!! I love using my fitbit and the app on my phone to
monitor my progress... my older brother bought it for me (fitbit Charge HR)
because he was worried about my heart rate being irratic, because I have
tachycardia and brachichardia because of my eating disorder and the fit bit
allows me to track my heart rate on a chart 24/7 (not including the in
betweens when i am charging it, lol!) to provide that information to my
cardiologist... because my heart rate is known to go into the low 30's,
20's and as high as the 150's, during the day and night, the high heart
rate when i am sitting down not engaging in any physical activity... i use
that information to tell my cardiologist when i am symptomatic in my
cardiac conditions and because of the extremities, am now getting a 24 hr
Holter monitor and a Electrocardiogram done next week... fun, right!?!?

anywho... thanks for the link, I will definitely look into that, as i need
funding for treatment this winter!
