need help re eating maximum food calories

My dashboard tells me to eat "X" amount of calories.  I am confused whether that number tells me to eat that to lose or to maintain.  I want to lose so what do I do?

I am/was just as confused as you but from what I can tell we need to subtract whatever amount you are suppose to not eat. ieI am doing -750 but I am new to this so I could be wrong.  Right now I went on to the Log tab/food and changed it to a lower calorie intake to see if that makes a difference. It just seems like I am eatting to much.  Hopefully someone who really knows can let us know for sure.
