Hi all, I'm new to fitbit and want help in staying motivated. I'm hoping some of you will also be looking help and encouragment like me.
I started on Tuesday of this week and so far I have managed 10,000 steps plus each day. I am also using the food tracker to help me. I think food is were I go wrong all the time so if anyone else wants to add me and share their thoughts and ideas please add me. There is strength in numbers, so here goes 🙂

Hi there! I got a fitbit this week as well, Wednesday for my birthday. Great job that you are walking 10,000 steps every day. How do you feel that you are having problems with the food category. Is is the actual eating of the food or how to record the food?

I think it's the eating of the food that the problem ! I seem to be able to go to the gym and do the steps but then my over eating gets in the way.
I know by eating the wrong stuff I am making things very hard for myself. So having the fitbit and tracking is hopefully going to make me more accountable.
What about u, how are u finding the food and walking ?

Well, I have to say so far the eating is going ok. Although a friend dropped by last night with some peanut butter/marshmellow squares for me and i just looked at them and thought "can I eat those"? They are still sitting there untouched this morning. I think the tough part for me will be this weekend. I love potato chips and i have no filter as to when to stop eating them. I also love wine, so it's going to be a challenge. Are you an emotional eater or like me, just love to eat.

Yeah I would say I'm an emotional eater. I tend to eat when I'm happy or sad or just plain bored. I am also a determined and driven kind of person. This week I ahve been so pleased with how with the help of the fitbit I have been able to saty on track.
Im not looking for miracles just some motivation when mine is waining 😉
Do you like to exercise? I go to the gym with my hubby 3 times a week and try to mix things up a bit, weights and cardio. I also do archery and tend to be a bit addicted to it ! I would shoot at home 5 times a week.
I think for me I want to get fitter so that it helps my shooting.

I try and run in the mornings, about 3KM and walk the same in the afternoon. It's only been a few days....so, I'm hoping I'll be able to keep up the momentum. I do strengthening exercises for my back and I try and do those daily. I do like to exercise but I find I have to be cautious of the exercise I choose to do. Sometimes it can debilitate me for weeks. Do you like to cook?

I dont really like to cook, think I'm a bit lazy if I'm honest.
I tend to eat the same stuff which I know is not good.

Hi Bruce,
Like you my goal is to lose weight and the food is a problem for me also. I like too many sweet things, not so much alcohol etc just good old fashioned food. But I'm on day 5 now and trying my hardest to do 10,000 steps a day and record my food intake. It will be interesting to see on Tues when I weight in !

We have similar challenges in that area. the ONLY ONLY solution for me is to NOT BUY the chips. If they are in the house then they will be eaten . If they are not in the house then I am not going to the store for them. So the challenge is to resist buying at the store.
As fo the wine, I love it. I am willing to walk the extra mile at night for my glass of wine. I count the calories and do not feel bad. I am not trying to kill myself, I am trying to get in shape to live a better life.
Chips do not make my life better. Wine on the other hand does. 🙂 🙂
