protien/diet bars and shakes

I travel with my job and am not able to make and prepare my meals to take on the road and travel overnight.  I am looking for a diet that is like snack/protien bars and shakes. Can anyone suggest a brand for me to use for breakfast ,lunch,dinner and snacks. 

I am trying to keep my

protien between 10% to 35%

fat between 20% and 35%

carbs between 45% and 65%

Help!

I eat and drink the atkin shakes and bars when i'm on the run.  high in protein, low in carbs.  they keep me full too and they taste great.

I thought those are high in fat.  I am trying to loose weight

I'm not going to say protein bars and shakes don't have a purpose, 'cause sometimes they do.  But before recommending one, I would want to know why.  I have taken a couple of different nutrition classes, and the average American gets more than enough protein in their diet without trying.  Most bars are high in fat and calories so they don't necessarily make the best meal replacement option for weight loss. If you are doing a lot of weight lifting type workouts where you need the extra protien to repair and build muscle find your closest sports supplement store the sales person will be able to give you an idea of what will work best for you.  If not I'd stear clear, and go for clean snacks such as fruit and nuts for a good option of on the go meals.

Gotta second Buggirl on this.  Those bars are not really good for you in most ways.  You should be focused on things like fruit (Berries, etc.), nuts (minus peanuts), and easy to pack veggies.  Those have all the fat, carbs, anti-oxidents, etc. you could ever hope to get from one of those glorified candy bars.

I used to eat protein bars to stave off hunger on the way to the gym.  Then I started reading the ingredients.   Yeach!   At best they are nutritionally ok, but are often worse than eating a regular candy bar (same amount of sugar, with the addition of soy protein isolates, etc).  

 

I've switched to eating fruit and nuts.  A banana and some mixed nuts with a little dried fruit for sweetness leave me feeling full and don't result in a sugar spike soon after eating.

I do overnight trips and drive around and am with clients most of the day. Fruit gets hot and nuts don't satisfy me when I am on the road.

Dinner is not much of a issue for me as I can pick anything up from a resturant and take back to my hotel room.  I am allways able to find low cal and low fat.

It's breakfast,snacks and lunch that is hard for me when I am on the road.

I have found EAS brand foods. For snacks eating Lean 15 chocolate peanut butter bars and for lunch their carb control bars.

I have used my fitbit practicing this routine at home and feel satisfied.  I am able though to make myself a egg white and canadian muffin english muffin sandwich for breakfast.(this fills in a well balanced breakfast meal)

When I am on the road I do not have time for more then 30 minutes exercise.(2 miles)

I also have to be careful to eat enough as I have been doing above so my hands do not shake.

Does anyone know of anything better then the EAS bars?

I use EAS 100% whey protein some days when i'm low on protein for the day.  I usually have it with about 15 almonds and an apple.  it's a perfect low calorie meal.  

 

I'm pescatarian, and only eat fish for 1 meal per day,  that leaves the rest of my meals vegetarian, i spread my calories between 4 meals per day..  so it can be hard to hit my protein goals, especially as a guy it's very important to me to try to lose as little muscle as possible while i'm losing weight.

 

I like the taste of the chocolate EAS 100% Whey protein powder.  But everyone's tastes are different,  you should try out a few and see which one you like.  also some epole mix it with milk some with water,  i only mix it with water because i'm trying to minimize calories,  but i hear it tastes much better with milk.

I travel a lot - breakfast is the easy part.  Instant oatmeal, with fresh fruit, or in a pinch dried.  i pack it with some dry milk if I want extra protein.  In the US hotels rooms normally have a way to heat water, I take a submersible water heater to europe.
