recommendation to keep dinner and evening snacks under 30%

The report function in Dashboard tells me to try and keep dinner and evening snacks under 30% of the total of calories consumed during the day, if trying to loose weight. Can anybody tell me why this is? As of now I kind of try to save up calories during the day so as to eat a nice dinner with my family. It does not result in going over my target. Wrong?

Works for me if you take an after dinner stroll to keep your metabolism going; I think the recommendation here is based on the evening being a time most folks settle in after a high(er) calorie intake. Do what works for your lifestyle, evening walks are an easy habit. Certainly avoid before bed snacks if losing weight is a priority, sleep slows everything down.

weight loss is not a one size fits all timed event. The goal of losing weight is to create a caloric deficit for the day. If you go easy on calories all day to have dinner - then go for it. I don't snack during the day at all, I prefer breakfast and lunch to be full meals. I eat dinner around 7 which is usually loads of veggies with a lean protein and then air popped popcorn with the DVR rounds out my evening around 9. And it is almost that time 🙂

I believe the concept of no late night snacks comes from the body's circadian rhythm. As night comes on your body starts winding down and prepares for sleep.

If you eat before you go to bed your digestive system takes energy away from the function of body repair and revitalization during sleep and you can get poor sleep and not wake refreshed or maybe even have trouble getting to sleep.

Your body's peak digestive efficiency is at mid day and decreases after that.

After your post i was curious and found this. Dunno if this is legit but its interesting.
