I just started logging my runs , I don't know if it's needed but I find I can take a quick look at my Dashboard and see what intensity and duration I have achieved

@TamilmFitbit has been designed to accurately track your everyday walking, jogging and running and if you want to analyse the activity you set the timer. If you have a Zip you can manually add a timer activity record after the activity. That is exactly the same as having a Fitbit with a timer.

Any manually entered steps and distance don't go towards your Badges or Achievements. They will show up on your Dashboard, Group totals, Friends and Leaderboards.

Because Fitbit cannot detect extra exertion like hill climbing, gym activity we would enter a "calories only" activity which would overwrite the calories for the time period with the higher value and not affect the steps and distance. Some use a Heart Rate Monitor for that and others rely on the selection of Manual Activities in the Fitbit Activities database.

This is a longer post but hopefully other new comers read this a it helps them.

Enjoy your new addiction -Fitbit...
