As long as you eat right you should not gain weight. Its all about what you eat not about exercise.
Im so sorry to hear of your injuries. I hope you heal fast!

@fire_playerGet better. What you eat is the clue. I have lower back issues and a temporary walking stick and I have maintained my weight over the last 6 months. Based on quality calories, no takeaway, snack on nuts, high Protein Chobani no fat Greek yogurt "real" berries. I follow Jonathan Bailor's "The Calorie Myth". Quality Calories, lose weight with less exercise. Worth a read. I never though I could snack on nuts without putting on weight.
In summary I have cut my walking activity by over 50%, lost the 7lb I put on at Christmas and I'm back to my November weight and only with what goes into the mouth.
Here are my walking stats to show that my activity is well down.
