virtual hike starts 6/3

I'm starting a virtual hike of the Florida Keys tomorrow, June 3.  That way, instead of just saying I took 10,000 steps, I can say "I made it to Key West!)  I thought I'd start with the shortest trail.

 

Join me and let's post our progress and encourage each other!

Joy, i thought you must have finished it by now. How was it? I sometimes don't even bother seeing where I am on the trail or looking at pictures.

Oh @Bobbinyc we are within 0.2 miles of eachother, I see you right ahead, and darn it, there is a snake! I really hate snakes, will you shoo it away for me? I would say Kill It, but that is probably not the right thing to do.  Just get rid of it, get it off the trail, so I'm not so freaked out!?!  Thanks so much 🙂

 

I think we are going to finish Stage 5 this week!  Yay for us!!!

 

I know the trail does seem a bit boring, but in all honestly I hiked a super gorgeous trail with my husband in Kauai, and after several hours of complete exhaustion, we were just like "ah, look, another beautiful view" "more ocean" "more cliffs" so we even got sick of that!

Word, you are a riot. But really! I get rid of a snake for you and you zip ahead again! (Good job). I know that in reality we can get numb when walking a long trail. Its great that you and your husband did that. I was orignall just hoping that these virtual trails would just give me a bit more motivation and fun. Its not what i expected, but keeping snakes away from you helps 😊

@Bobbinyc seriously! I make it to stage 6 and what's my reward? Another SNAKE! Please no snakes! I swear my HR goes up just looking at that slithery creeper, ugh!

Hi everybody!!

 

So sorry for being MIA these last few weeks. 

I got pretty sick after getting home from a wonderful yoga retreat vacation and stopped wearing the fitbit since I was pretty much not walking for a week (couldnt walk straight without fainting). 

 

Anyway... long story short. I am slowly feeling better and am getting back into the groove of things! May not finish the hike though. A lot has been going on and I have decided to practice more yoga and gentle stretching and meditation. 

 

The best thing I can report is though that I have lost 55 lbs now since Jan 1 this year. 🙂 So so happy! I may even have a pic here... before and now...

@Mermaid3011 How cute do you look?!?! Seriously, you go girl! Your face has really slimmed. You are stunning in all your pictures. I'm so impressed with your yoga journey. 

 

I have always wanted to be certified in some sort of physical exercise training. I've taken classes since I was in high school, back in the days of step aerobics and we wore bike shorts with these leotards over the top, it was the 90s and they were all neon and bright prints, yikes!

 

I love pilates, and now I'm getting into barre, I enjoy the classes, maybe one I work up to more regular classes I can consider getting some training.  How long have you been doing yoga?

@Bobbinyc I am impressed with these trail angels.  I love seeing what they leave for people, that is just awesome.  I don't remember Cheryl Strayed saying anything about them in her book?  I would like a couple pieces of red vines, I LOVE those! hehe

 

Did you see there is going to be another trail movie?  With Robert Redford on the Appalacian trail, I think it's based on Bill Bryson's book, "A Walk in the Woods"

A walk in the woods was produced before the one about the pacific trail. It's based on a reaaaaaaally good book! Great read! I can't wait to watch it!!

@WordWhimsy @Mermaid3011 I will watch anything with Robert Redford.  He is brilliant, lives his life so ethically (as far as I know), never got into the whole Hollywood self-centered stuff, and not bad to look at.

That movie should be great.

@Mermaid3011  You are so beautiful - in all of the pictures!  Congrats on all that weight loss.  What an amazing job.  Switching up activities makes total sense to me.  You have to listen to your body and do what works for you at any given time.  I hope you continue to feel good.  Some meds are just so difficult.

And don't disappear again!  I worry!

@Joy_ Hi again!  Are you actually back on Pacific Crest?  I missed you!  I love your new picture - you look beautiful!  My foot is pretty much healed so I have no excuse - ok, does weather count?  These hot humid days just take it out of me.  That said, I am tired of not losing enough weight and not reaching my own goals, so, it is time to up the game.  I see you are still zipping along.  Great job!

Hi Bobbi! Thanks re: the pic! Hmmm. Am I back on the Pacific coast trail? I'm not sure. I tried to get back on but it doesn't seem like my miles were showing. Looks like I had to start all over again. But you guys seem like you are having so much fun and I missed you all! I will try to get back on there again.

Yes, the humidity has been rough. Once I'm outside though, there has been a nice breeze. I've also started walking a new path over 3 miles. It is hilly but partly in the shade. The way out is rough, tough hills and steep inclines. The way back though is a treat, all downhill except a large hill up at the end. It's getting easier to do and it feels like it's getting shorter. So I've really been enjoying it. Listening to good podcasts helps too!

@Bobbinyc ok, I know what @Joy_ meant with the blister pictures, yuck, gross, no thank you!?!

 

Ok, time to move on.  I really need to get in gear with the walking/running.  I didn't get in my long run/walk this weekend, so I think I will do it tomorrow night.  Time for some catching up!

 

On a good note, we prepared some corn for the freezer and made salsa yesterday, so that was a nice use of our fresh veggies (I feel like a little farmer girl).

Hi @Bobbinyc I thought I was making process on the trail to catch you, then I see you haven't updated since 8-31, is everything ok? You didn't fall off one of those steep cliffs did you? I think I have a rope in my pack and just holler and I'll throw it to you 😉 we are going to finish this thing!
