Anyone using their fitbit to improve health through Chronic illness

I have severe ME and Fibromyalgia, I have been mainly housebound and sometimes bedbound for the last 5 years. I have bought my fitbit to encourage movement and improve pain levels by trying to improve my muscle health. I have to start very slowly and am working with Oxford Pain clinic to rehabilitate my body. I will never be "normal" but I hope to be able to control my illness and do the best I can to gain some strength back.

Is anyone else using their fitbit in a similar wayCat Wink

Are you still using your Fitbit? I am looking for more people that have CMT and use a Fitbit. Maybe we can all encourage each other to move more.

I also have Fibromyalgia and Psoriatic arthritis and horrible fatigue.  I've been working with a physical therapist to help build up some strength but it's a challenge to avoid overdoing things.  I'd love to connect with you if you want a friend that is closer to your level of movement.

Hello

I'm so glad you are working with a specialised to help with pain and muscle and mobility. I also trying to encourage more movement and reduce fatigue and pain levels.

Sorry to hear you cannot do alot of cardio but walking on the treadmill sounds brilliant!

I have also not long purchased some resistance bands myself with different strengths to work my way up. Well done!

This is what I am doing also.  I like to use the treadmill because I can easily set my own pace and it makes it easier for me to walk in the winter time here in Alaska.  It's just too cold for me to get outside.  I have stretch bands also and my physical therapist is showing me how to use them.  I have a hard time with weakness in my hands so I haven't been doing as much with the hand weights but I need to.

I have not been diagnosed with CFS but I have been so exhausted.  I also have Fibromyalgia.  I just got a versa 2 and find it is really helping me remember to move.  I think there should be a group for this where we can find others in our same situation.

I don’t have CFS but I do have Fibromyalgia and Rheumatoid Arthritis. I
have had several joint replacements in the past 6 years. I have a versa but
sad to say I’m not very technically savvy so I don’t often use it for
exercise. I admire the fact that you are a jogger. I am 71 and just trying
to get back to my normal walking routine after recovering from another
surgery. I don’t know if you are still interested now but I think having a
partner would motivate me to work harder and move more. I do know that for
our diagnoses movement is the best thing to do.

I wish this thing made it more clear if a reply is directed to me or to the thread or another commenter in the thread.  I'm new here so I'm not sure.

I definitely am not a jogger and have a hard time walking steady at 1 mph on my treadmill.  Some days I feel a little better and can go a little faster or go a bit longer but then sometimes I can hardly move.  I also have to be careful not to cause a flare up by pushing myself too hard.

So I got an email that I got a new "rank" on here which is "jogger".  So that must mean beginner because I'm brand new here and still learning.  I'd love to have any new people add me as a friend for motivation.  I had one friend request though and so far have not been able to accept it.  It keeps saying failed and that I need to make sure my cell phone is close by and that my wireless is on.  It is.

I’m trying to reply to your remark but don’t know what I’m doing to prevent it. I’d like to follow you and be a partner. I have bands and recently a stationary bike. I’m presently recovering g from surgery and walking is all I can manage at the moment. Hopefully I can’t start a routine in another 2 weeks. Fran

Hi. What is your name on the Fit bit app for the community there and I will
try to add you as a friend

I'm jamesgirlll on here but I'm. JenniferC. There.. Or is it Jennifer C.

I get really confused about these threads on this forum. But if you open
the FitBit app and go to community it's much more clear.

For example, it will show you "Today' on the first page..look at the bottom
and you will see community.

I'm not new to FitBit but I'm not very good with it either.

What is your name on the Fit bit app community groups etc. There are some
for people who have chronic pain and other problems..

I think my name for fitbit profile is Donna Jean C.  If you click on my name by my comment here and go to my community profile there is a link there to go to my fitbit profile.  I think you can add me from there.
