Hy guys!
I just registered to this community and want to say hi!^^
I don't own a fitbit yet but I'm about to buy a flex to get started. Before I decided to go for fitbit I wanted to buy a Jawbone UP3 but as they still can't say when it will be available outside the USA I have to buy a different tracker.
I compared the fitbit flex and the UP24 from Jawbone and decided to get the fitbit (^.^)b
This community seems pretty nice so I'm looking forward to be around of course I want to join a group!!
See ya!
Greeting from Germany!

Hello All,
I am new to using a Fitbit. My name is Jeff, I'm from Clearfield, Utah. I am looking for buddies to walk with and motivation to keep going. I am looking to lose about 50 pounds.

I won a Fitbit Flex in a raffle at work yesterday...I love it! I'm hoping to lose 15 lbs within the next year. Looking forward to seeing how much my fitbit will help me keep to my goal 🙂 .

Alibug,
Where in FL?
We have a retirement home on Pine Island and plan to go after Christmas! FL is a big state so I don't have much hope that you live near there!

Alibug,
That's more like central FL.............Pine Island is in southwest FL, near Ft Myers and Cape Coral. Its the island between Sanibel Island and the mainland/Ft Myers Cape Coral area.
I'll wave when we pass the Orlando turn off signs on I-75. We can still motivate and encourage each other! I have a bike down there and hope to do lots of biking for exercise while we're there (about 2 weeks).
Keep on stepping!

I am also new today and had just a little bit of an issue setting it up. But am looking forward to being able to use the upgrate in the next few months. I was in weight watchers...used their active link...that is 19 dollars a month! At least fitbit is only 49.95 a year...so a real savings...that helped me stay motivated. So I am sure this will also help me keep my motivation up. I had a hip replacement Sept. 15th and am trying to get back into my walking. Before all of this I was walking 5 miles a day before work...so I am up to a total of almost a mile now. It seems like a long way away from 5 miles, but I feel a real pride in getting back into this. So lets go fitbit community!! We got some fitness to log!!

Welcome Kukee,
I'm sure after this Christmas, I'll need to lose the 10 lbs I've been trying to lose for years plus an added 5-10 lbs!! So when the New Year comes we can all motivate each other!
I think you're doing great to have had a hip replacement in Sept! Go at it slow and easy, you'll get back up to 5 miles a day. Back before your surgery, how long did it take you to do the daily 5 mile walk? I envy anyone who is a morning person and can get up and do 5 miles before work!! Way to go!!

Welcome MarySt,
I don't know much about how to get started other than wear your Fitbit every day and keep stepping! I am not doing too well right now; hope to make it my New Year's resolution to make 5K steps every day and at least 3-4 days a week make 10K. Right now with Christmas holidays upon me, I have to just concentrate on getting ready for Christmas!!
Hang in there, we'll all be here to give everyone a push in the new year!

Newbie here not too sure about this thing! Seems to record a lot of steps while driving, along with stairs climbed. I'm going to keep at it I guess since I want to challenge myself to lose weight and feel better. MOTIVATION is tough! OK, gotta get off the couch, havin a bad day....

Welcome to Fitbit!
If you're logging steps while driving, there's a way to over-ride that!

Hi everyone, I thought with the holidays I'd be far from reaching any goals on the Fitbit. But, yesterday - my first full day with the Fitbit - with family in town to visit, we went to do a few activities with the families and I did over 14,000 steps! Shocker. The buzzer on my Fitbit went off when I reached 10,000, and I had no idea what was going on. Thought something was wrong. I am finding that the real-time tracking of steps and activities is and eye opener! I am paying more attention to moving, to what I eat, sleeping, everything. Now I need to work on a plan for the new year to stay motivated and consistently move more and eat well.
Happy Holidays to everyone!
Mary
