Hello, I'm new to fitbit too but nooooowhere near new to weightloss.
When I was around 30, I lost 70lbs.
When I was around 50, I lost 106lbs.
Now approaching 60, I have 100lbs to lose again. Well, 98.2 according to the dashboard.
I'm the only person I know in the real world who has a fitbit - got it last Saturday - so didn't know what to expect. I bought a charge, and, beyond struggling a bit at first to get the buttony things in the slots on the wristband, I've found it very easy to wear.
I love the dashboard, I like all the stats I can just see happen there. I tell you what would be good - a set of Kitchen scales that you could type in what item it was you were weighing, and it got sent straight to your dashboard........ Either that, or a British food catalogue to choose food from. I'm sync-ed with MFP but I'd rather do it all on fitbit.
I have a pretty sedentary life - although when I lost the 100+lbs, it was all through portion control and walking. I love that fitbit encourages me to try for more and more steps, even on days like today when the weather means it's too slip-slidy to go out for a walk. I find myself walking more and more around the house, and even a little more is better than none at all.
Hello, everyone. It's nice to join the community. 🙂

Thank you for the welcome and the welcome PMs I've had too! 🙂
Thank you also for the friend requests. I Do appreciate them, it's kind of you to take the trouble, but I'm not accepting any at the moment - the sole reason, that I'm embarrassed by my statistics. Maybe when I've lost a bit more weight and gained a few more steps..... but thank you. 🙂

Be happy with yourself and your body @Rosinante , making smaller steps at a time for becoming healthier,.. you are amazing for being yourself, regardless of any statistics.
Believe in your body and yourself. Everything's possible!

Welcome to the Fitbit Family @Mamabear63 , I'm sure you'll find plenty of members who are on the same path as yours.
As a personal recommendation, follow your food plan as a guide and make sure you write down your meals as soon as you are about to get them; this will prevent the moment where you are holding your food log and remembering how much you ate and underestimating amounts. I have a tiny notebook where I write down the meals and their weight, so when I'm ready to write them down, they are accurate.
Get a food scale and measure everything. Increase your water intake and find different sources or variations for the meals you love that won't take a hit on your caloric budget.
Have a rest day! Enjoy your food and don't miss out on the opportunity to eat different.
You can do this!
