Welcome to the Fitbit family!

Whether you've just got your Fitbit or have been with us for years, share a little about yourself with the wider Fitbit fam. You might find someone with the same interests or even the same health goals as you. You can say hi any way you like but if you're stuck, kick it off with:

  1. Where in the world are you?
  2. What is your current health/fitness goal?
  3. How do you like to stay fit?
  4. What motivates you?
  5. Favorite guilty pleasure

Looking forward to getting to know you all.

Hi my name is Judy have been using Fitbit Alta since 2017 upgraded to Versa Lite 5 months ago big mistake, does not show the calories burned or the figure is way off no longer lets me know when the daily goal is reached, I figured where I have a year warranty they would replace but no way they are aware of the problem and don't know when it will be fixed???

Well Jarnard, it's like this. The chicken wings and beer have to go. Join a running group or if there is not one near you then start one.

I have the charge 3, just got it. Trying to figure out the difference between "recording" any specific activity from start to finish VS just wearing the unit.

Hello everyone this is Fitbit Name "Jimmyrnr" I joined in December of 2014 when I was handed a Fitbit uint and told to use it or die. I was out of control with my weight. I used it for almost a year before I found about the online version for my phone where I could login and meet people and enter challenges. It changed my life in a wonderful way when I started meeting people and challenging myself much harder in the group challenges. Walking, Jogging, Running whatever it took to keep up and sometimes win the challenge. People started chatting and life on Fitbit just opened up. I have documented over 35 million steps with in the last 5 years and love every min of it. I  have not posted online with my computer for years

Hi amrc78, This weather is hard to get motivated. Is your job active or deskwork.  Getting a Fitbit is a great start to motivation

  1. Where in the world are you? Pennsylvania USA
  2. What is your current health/fitness goal? To lose 25 pounds.
  3. How do you like to stay fit? By walking, swimming, hiking.
  4. What motivates you? Daily life motivates me. I like the challenges on the app to help motivate me to keep moving. Giving and receiving support through the app helps those of us "going it alone" in getting healthy in their real lives.
  5. Favorite guilty pleasure? I'm not going to tattle on myself,  lol.

I've been using a Fitbit for many years. The first one was given to me by my sister. I love keeping track of numbers. Didn't know how sedentary I was until the numbers told me I was. Have picked up my activity since then. Keep on going. It makes a big difference in your life.

Hi,

I'm 72, just diagnosed a week or so ago with diabetes type 2, overweight (15 stone 7lbs), 6 foot one, devilishly handsome in an old fart kind of way. I play golf regularly but haven't done any other exercise for years.  So, I've bought a Versa 2, an exercise bike, a set of kettle bells, and converted a bedroom into a 'sort of' gym.  I'm starting off by walking around 7,000 steps a day, doing 2 sets of kettle bell, and about half an hour on the bike (bike in stages, as I'm finding it hard work).  I've not had a cake, biscuit, bread or chocolate bar for a week or so, take no sugar in tea or coffee, I now drink water (which I never did).  Any help, advice or encouragement from anyone please?

@jcmstark

Welcome and keep moving 😊   I find the reminder to move very helpful, also when not at my desk, listening to music and breaking out in a dance to a favourite tune is also fun.

Hi @amrc78

I also lack motivation. I think we may be able to help one another. 😊

@Bill33 Glad you like your device and it motivating you!

@jcmstark I love seeing the numbers to. It is motivating!

@wrinklyone Sounds like you are doing great so far. But dont completely deprive yourself. I allow myself 1 treat a week. We all need to have something sweet once in a while. Keep it up!

It sounds like you are making a lot of changes. Good job on recognizing that you need to do these changes, they are all good ones. You have to keep it steady.  I started with my Fitbit in 2013 and always thought that I was relatively active. I was surprised that the numbers didn't show that I was. So I picked a number to work towards and that was my start to monitoring. Now I have a Fitbit and an Apple watch for various reasons. I am concerned about falling and the watch will alert someone if I do. The Fitbit is more difficult to hit my step count. The apple watch records more steps. I tend to walk more with the Fitbit monitoring. Just keep on with what you have set up at a steady pace.

Thanks for the encouragement, it really helps, as does the Fitbit by giving lots of information, I'm using it as a sort of quiz (I do a lot of quizzing), to do better and improve scores.  Although I obviously want to lose weight, the two main objectives are to control the diabetes and to get fitter 9 then the weight will go anyway.  It's early days, but slight improvements are already happening, so it's all looking good so far.
