Welcome! You and I share a lot of the same goals. I lost control of my A1C about a year ago and got majorly frustrated. Since then I have been strength training, maintaining a better diet, and losing weight. My goal is to loose 20lbs (My original goal was to drop 40 lbs , 20 to go). My A1C is back where it should be, goota get more though. I want to get rid of some or all of the meds. My cholesterol is back in normal range, and I feel great! Being 55 does not mean that I have to settle for poor health. I just added a weight sled to my strength training, huge benefit and lots of fun.

I think I may have joined this years ago, but I really don't remember if I posted anything.
I live in extreme northern New Hampshire
I want to lose about 28 lbs, and just generally lubricate my joints more.
I walk mostly to stay fit, usually just in the house, but a that is mostly because of my location
The mirror is my main motivation, and the aches I tend to get if I sit still for too long.
My favorite guilty pleasure is snacking in the evening - sweet stuff, of course.
I hope to do better here than I have in the past. I look forward to meeting you.

Welcome again @kaynelvb. It´s nice having you here.
If you live in place where you can walk it´s better on these days. I love sweet stuff in the evening too. I´m always with cravings for sweet things mostly when it´s getting dark.
Have fun I hope you meet new friends.

@FatherOfTen & @modapillsriver - you both may want to contribute to this thread - What are you doing to keep Diabetes in check. I’m also diligently working to keep my A1C low and eat healthy and would appreciate any tips or advice.

Hello. My fitness is progressing. A year ago this time I was 260, terrible cholesterol, diabetic, E.D. zero sex drive, depressed, very bad fatigue. Finally I ask my Dr to check my Testosterone levels. A guy at my age should have around 600 or higher level of Testosterone some might be a bit lower mine was 64 and my free testosterone was 1. So I started taking Testosterone cypionate and it changed my life. I was no longer fatigued so I started cycling and my diabetes went away, I lost so far 40lbs and went from a pant size 42 down to a 34. I run 2 miles every other day and eat tripl3zero yogurt with fruit for breakfast and dinner is chicken breast with bellpeppers. Carbs are to me what garlic is to a vampire. I live in Wenatchee Washington and thanks to Testosterone I love life again. God bless

Howdy y'all, I am Elizabeth, in Texas.
I love my 1st fitbit Inspire, but she stopped functioning- altho the battery charges & my daily steps show up on the dashboard. Anyway, I stopped using month or 2 ago, finally remembered to resolve this before the 1 year mark.
HMM, my favorite guilty pleasure? I work at a grocery store so you can well imagine that allows me the luxury of many! Actually, it is pretty cool to be the 1st to try new items at our location...and it amazes me everyday, just how many steps I do make at work! Thank you Fitbit :shopping_cart::one_thirty:

Good evening,
My name is David (63.11 years) and I live in Elk Grove Village, IL in the United (not really) States. My overall health fitness goal is to find some friends on here for support and to support. I would like to lose some weight, improve my cardio, and find some peace in my mind. Currently trying to stay fit is a major issue. I used to like to walk (with my camera), lift weights, and explore. (I lived for 3 years in a rural area)
Now, things are quite different. (I'm back in the city area) I have major skeletal structural issues which throw have thrown me a knuckleball. Being a Masseur for 15 years, I had many clients who had back surgery multiple times for the same area. So, surgery is not an option for me at this time until I have tried everything possible. (2 docs suggested eight vertebrae laminectomy, and one doc added both hips being replaced)
What motivates me? LOL. My mind.
Favorite guilty pleasure...see what motivates me. Ok... I'll stick with most anything chocolate or sugar-based.
