Fitbitting with "Man's Best Friend" (upload dog photos here)

ANSWERED

We live in "Steinbeck country" (Salinas Valley/Monterey County), named after the famous author John Steinbeck. And just as Steinbeck documented his journeys with his beloved dog in "Travels with Charlie", I'm going to photojournal in this thread my "Travels with Melody".

A lot has changed in Salinas since the days of Steinbeck. But some things haven't changed that much. Today we visited the childhood home of Steinbeck, which has been restored to its original beauty.

Down the street from the Steinbeck House is the Steinbeck Public Library, with a bronze statue of the author at the front entrance. I don't think Melody's ever seen a statue before. At first she was puzzled that he didn't greet her - or even flinch one little bit.DSC_0047 resize.jpg

Then she surprised me and became downright ornery!

So I took her back to to dog training school for some proper obedience training. Of course, she passed with flying colors.

@chrisq2 they are hypnotic! You can barely scold him when he turns on those big blues on you. @WendyB she as sweet as can be and she hasn't lost her spunk yet. Since Tupac arrived the 3 play together without problem. So much so in fact that we have to always leave one of the dogs inside the house while the other 2 are outside, otherwise they stat wreaking havoc. Of course they don't all have the same energy but they adapt to each other's.

Hi guys, here is a picture of my Fitbit partner, her name is Baby Boo. She's a rescued dog and has been with us for the last 8 years. She's come a long way to become the best Fitbit parter I could ever ask for!

Let's see if you can spot her in the picture, sometimes she likes wear customes to distract people. Smiley Happy

@DavideFitbit What's a Weiner without ketchup and mustard?  Love it!

@Baltoscott Thanks! It sounds like "fuse", it is pronounced "Foosair". Smiley Very HappyI saw a movie once called "The Motorcycle Diaries" (very good movie by the way), that is about  Ernesto "Che" Guevara when he was finishing medical school and travels with his best friend Alberto from Brazil to Peru by motorcycle and they witness a lot of disparity and exploitation of labor on South America in their trip (you got to see the movie Smiley Very Happy).

The thing is that Alberto called Ernesto "Che" Guevara by the name of Fuser. It was his unique nickname given by his best friend and it sounded so funny and so cool that we (my family and I) decided to name our newborn Golden Retriever puppy by the name of Fuser. That was 8 years ago! We also have different ways to call him based on "Fuser". I like to call him "Poofi" or "Foozi" and my friends often calls him "Fewsair". Smiley LOL My father goes like "Mr. Fuser" hahaha. He is a big dog, but I like to treat him like he is still a little puppy. Smiley Very Happy

Wow, @SantiR there is a big story behind your dog's name. I've watched that movie too, it was great.

Baby Boo sure is a sweetie.  You're very lukcy.  My Melody wasn't a rescue in the typical sense.  But the woman we got her from had intended to keep her (and breed her).  With some gentle persuasion from me  and some (not so gentle) pleading by my daughters, we were able to change her mind.  So in that sense we did "resuce" Melody, but from a life of breeding.

Thanks @rightdx, she's definitely a sweet dog.

It's wonderful that you were able to convince then woman then, for sure Melody has to be one of the happiest dogs, with all those good times and adventures she's had. Smiley Happy
