Fitbitting with "Man's Best Friend" (upload dog photos here)

ANSWERED

We live in "Steinbeck country" (Salinas Valley/Monterey County), named after the famous author John Steinbeck. And just as Steinbeck documented his journeys with his beloved dog in "Travels with Charlie", I'm going to photojournal in this thread my "Travels with Melody".

A lot has changed in Salinas since the days of Steinbeck. But some things haven't changed that much. Today we visited the childhood home of Steinbeck, which has been restored to its original beauty.

Down the street from the Steinbeck House is the Steinbeck Public Library, with a bronze statue of the author at the front entrance. I don't think Melody's ever seen a statue before. At first she was puzzled that he didn't greet her - or even flinch one little bit.DSC_0047 resize.jpg

Then she surprised me and became downright ornery!

So I took her back to to dog training school for some proper obedience training. Of course, she passed with flying colors.

Love this thread!  I lost my walking buddy about three weeks ago and I'm reminded every morning that I don't have a leash in my hand (if I'm honest, I've been bailing on the walks because I honestly miss him too much).  Hopefully I'll have a new buddy next spring, when our schedules calm down enough to give time to our next companion.  For now, I'll live vicariously through you guys!  The pic is of my sweet boy, Merlin.  We got to share our lives for around 14 yrs....MERLIN!.jpg

So sorry you lost your furbaby. Woman Sad I walk with my furbaby twice a day. Walks wouldn't be the same without him. Hope you will soon have a new companion.

@SunsetRunner Cute pic! Does the tracker stay in place during your walks? If it does that would be awesome! Cat Surprised

JackiHeeb, we just rescued a pointer puppy ... full of energy! Becoming a great walking buddy. She's about 15 weeks old. Still having potty-train issues (urine), but she's a doll and we love her! Her name is Margarita (after our fav drink) aka Maggie May.

My Bella, or "Bubbie" as she prefers to answer to. lol

Sadly, I snapped the photo a millisecond too quickly and missed getting a perfect shot of those wide, perky ears of her's. Haha

@WendyB She is! She's still a bit of a pup, so she has some sass left to work out, but she's still my perfect companion!

This is Ella, a 2 year old Cockapoo. I work from home so she is with me almost 24 hours a day.
