Looking for friends who are also disabled.

I am a 57 yr old lady, who has several health challenges...Degenerative Disc Disease, Partial Spinal Cord injury, nerve pain, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, and more.  I have had four spinal surgeries (one cervical and three lumbar (most recently, laminectomy of L1-L2 in April, 2021).  Prior to the last one, I was barely able to walk.  I started at 500 steps a day, now up to averaging 1,135 a day.

I am also overweight.  Since my last surgery, I have lost 20 pounds, although I hit a rough patch and gained about 3 1/2 pounds back. But I am back on track, watching what I eat and staying active as much as possible (I have 24/7 pain which doesn't help much.)

Looking for friends in similar situations that can encourage each other to do their best.

Thank you.

Hi @the4as

Welcome to the forum. I too have lived for 57 years and have my own health challenges, which started at year 11 when I was diagnosed with osteo arthritis. I'm always happy to make a new connection and help cheer someone on. I hope you find many new friends here that inspire and motivate you.

Hi, it's good to see you around in the Community forums, @the4as

I have 3 hernias in my lower back and was barely able to walk for half of last year, and my dad has 24/7 pain as well due to the same condition. So I know how important and difficulty it is to increase our step goal, even if it's just a few steps for others.

Here are some other threads of the discussion forums where you can find many people to add as friends, I'm sure you'll be able to find people with similar challenges:
