Adding exercise manually duplicating steps

Hi, I'm new to my Fitbit one and am loving it so far, just one query tho, I run on a treadmill everyday, when I wear my Fitbit it records my steps but not as a run, so I manually added treadmill to my track exercise and put in my time and distance but it doubled my steps then. This morning I ran without my Fitbit and instead just manually logged my run, is this what I should be doing? Thanks!

Hi, @Emdubz, if I understand your question, you are wanting a record of your run as well as just your steps?  If that is what you want, when you start your run you can put the One in activity mode -- it is exactly the same as putting it in sleep mode: just press and hold button to start, and press and hold again at the end.  It should sync to your activity log and then you can edit it to name it "run" or "treadmill" or whatever works for you.

I hope this helps!

When holding the button down, and seeing the stopwatch, your tracker is in either sleep mode or exercise tracking mode. It depends on how much movement is recorded during this time, eitherway this period will show up under sleep or track your exercise. If itis in the wrong spot, through the web, you can click on the pencil and then click "this is an activity", or "this is a sleep". There should also be an option to renqme it as "treadmill"

No Let the Fitbit do its thing. You should not manually enter any step based exercise.

Only not step based like weights, swimming, yoga.

But if I do this it doesn't log it on my track exercise..... Just on my step counter. Then I don't meet my targets for that......?

I did wonder if I should do this...... So by doing it this way it won't duplicate my steps and it will be logged onto my track exercise on the app? I just want to meet my targets on it...!
Thanks!

It definitely won't duplicate your steps.  I am not certain about the exercise on your app -- I think it should work, but I am not certain, because there is a distinction that Fitbit makes between activity and exercise.  I think the One button press creates an activity, rather than an exercise, but I am not sure.  (The One is an older tracker, so works a little differently in some respects, while the exercise goals is quite a new element).  Try it and see if it works!  Let us know...
