Calorie burn calc weighted towards stair climb

Busted my a** in the garden last weekend, walked 15 kilometres one day and 10 the next day, without leaving the yard. Most of the walking was carrying or dragging something. Expected fitbit to report I blitzed my calorie burn target. Instead it reported me at 1/3rd of target at end of each day. Which is ridiculously inaccurate. Noticed I only climbed a couple of flights of stairs for the two days. Am thinking fitbit place a lot of the weighting of the calorie burn calculation on stair climb and much much less on walking. Which if you are working hard walking is going to understate the calorie burn big time. Not happy with the inaccuracy.

Don't like the limitations of the fitbit as much.

There would be tens of thousands of people working hard at a slow pace
getting underestimated by their fitbit on full auto.

Rather than manually logging a "special" walk, would be better to be able
to reclassify an automatically recorded walk as more intensive than the
limitations of the fitbit can detect.

Actually it's the other way round: you don't get any extra calories allocated when you get a floor.

 

I suspect what's happening is that fitbit is calculating calories just on what it knows. It senses the steps you took but as it doesn't know you were carrying or dragging things it assumes you were just walking. Moreover, as you were carrying or dragging your step pace would have been slower than normal so it would have thought you were having a slow stroll.
