Do I need a dongle to sync to my computer? Can't I just plug it in directly to the computer? Can a dongle be purchased anywhere?

If your computer supports Bluetooth, you may be able to sync without a dongle. Regardless, you'll need to download the Fitbit app to sync either. No, you can't just plug your Fitbit into the computer (assume you mean with charging cable) to sync. 

You can find inexpensive replacements on eBay
