I received a new fitbit ONE on Friday, and it does not seem to be working the same as my previous 2 ONEs.
After four hours of charging it out of the box, the battery level indicator remained at medium on both the fitbit app and tracker interfaces. I restarted the tracker, and the app UI said the battery was full, so I disconneced the tracker from the charging cable, assuming it was, indeed, full.
False positive? Only 36 hours after a supposedly-full charge, this new tracker's battery level is back down to medium. The last 2 days have been my least active days of the week with no sleep tracking. All-Day Sync is ON. Chatter is disabled, and I maintain only one silent alarm.
By comparison, my previous 2 ONEs took under 45 minutes to fully charge (their first charge may have taken an hour), and both the fitbit app and tracker UI showed a full battery. I also left All-Day Sync ON the previous 2 trackers, and I re-charged them every Sunday. (I never recevied a low battery notification, even though I always enable that option).
Today I restarted my new tracker again, but the battery level remained at medium on both the fitbit app UI and the tracker UI--until after I had refreshed the app screen at least a half dozen times. Only then did the app UI indicate a full battery. Yet the device battery icon is still at less than 75%.
Two other behavior changes:
- The fitbit app on my iPhone takes an inordinately long time to locate the device, even if they are sitting inches apart from one another. There are no issues with my wireless network. A check of speedtest.net indicates my upload/download speed is blazing at over 134 kbps in both directions.
- The tracker wiggles when plugged into the charging cable, where just a gentle nudge of my finger seems to disconnect it (the UI changes from battery level to something else on the screen). My previous tracker definitely formed a tighter fit--I don't recall it wiggling at all. I tested the connection on the new tracker using the fitbit cable from my previous tracker AND an aftermarket cable, both of which worked perfectly with the lost tracker. The new tracker feels loose in both, so it doesn't see to be a cable issue.
The battery on this new device does not appear to be fully charging, maybe because the connection points shouldn't have passed QA.
Any other tips on testing battery life over the next few days before I consider returning it?
